Yep, a client had his server room inside of a womens bathroom. Everytime someone came in.. I had to go out. Plus been in plenty of server rooms with rats and large animals walking around.
I work with a decent amount of drivers and most of them like thunder for the fun, although it doesnt feel as good as the Pap game. The idea of grudges took over the garage for a few weeks as everyone had the game in their bus. A funny story you'll never here in public involves someone driving the #7 car playing his first game and finding the #97 car.
overall, ea does a better job of making a new version more intersting then the last. pap does a better job at pure driving. I have both, i tend to use thunder more with my kids/friends, Pap when I play by myself.

Replacing SMTP?

The EMA - electronic messaging assocication (www.ema.org) helped build and advertise x400 10 years ago as a replacement for smtp mail. only a small amount of businesses bought the idea, and of those probably 5 are left. Now its too late, to much investment in smtp mail to change it.
From a person who owns a business who sells software i can tell you that yes you need forms. But you dont need to require EVERY SINGLE peice of info. In fact i require non info, but if you have to send a reg key you need to require a email address at the very least.
And yes the whiners here will say, but i dont want to spend 5 seconds filling out my email. Well guess what. Software companies are in the mood to make $$$. Dont make money and you wont see that software there in a year. Crack it and you wont see that software there in a year.
The computer business is the only place where theft is legal, or at the very least not chased. When you grow up and get a real job in a fortune 500 company you learn that licensing makes sense because without it, you would all still be playing with 1970 software.
Its a simple fact, this is a business and thinking its a playground is just a teenage view of the world you work in.
ya they give you the software for free until you decide to buy it. I am a consultant I would say 90% of the winzips i see installed are demos. You cant expect a company to make money on that, and if they dont make money they dont improve the product. Winzip is a small product that I would say has done an immense job at making it perfect, but I cant see how they make real money doing it.
s a person who sells software you have to see the $ side of the business. 90 days is way to long to string out most people because they will have forgotten what they installed after 30 days. Plus most (Im not one of them) consider 30 days because they dont want people using their software for free.

After the first 5 years out of college, the degree doesnt matter. What does matter is your ability to do the job, learn new stuff, and perfect your current knowledge. Also throw in your ability to communicate and help others finish there projects.
I own a company of computer 'nerds' and when they get to the stage where I would consider hiring them I dont even look at their degrees. I look at whats really in their brain and how do they handle.
Then again a little extra money in those first 5 years is good too:)
As an email consultant who works with jsut about every email system, I must say everything breaks. Most everything costs a lot of money to install and migrate to and most every user will at least bitch once about the change.
Saying that, everyone of them has features and reasons why they are better then the others, even exchange. BUT DO NOT choose an eamil system because some tells you to, find a good reason to look at and test at least 3 of them. If you change for politics you will lose the fight and maybe your job.
Yes executives are dense when it comes to such matters, havent met many who can make a decision on brains instead of politics. But take my word for it...If you dont choose the right system and then spend the money to install it correctly, someone like me will appear in your office to save the day. Problem here is it might be your successors day.

Are the biggest and berst in this area. I know ferris had some data out last year, but it didnt go into each of the imap/pop clients. Plus his data came from the vendors who consider Purchased to mean used. Thats why Notes shows over 25Million seats even though I can only count about 6Million thru my clients. I would be very interested in helping, some of the corporate biggies might give me access to numbers faster then they would to people they don't know, I deal with about 20% of the lan based messaging world. -D_ale> www.jconsult.com
I consultant on exchange/notes/ccmail (STOP LAUGHING PEOPLE - I make damn good money:) Internet conenctors and such and most everyone is behind a firewall (Where the firewall is replaying mail) and reverse lookup and name lookup to those firewalls will simply get you a blank stare. They have no idea about usersm they simply relay the mail inwards -DAle>
I wrote a techinical manual and published it myself. Instead of the 50 cents the publisher would have given me I got $70 a copy. Coarse if your book is in the $10/copy zone, I would think the printing/shipping costs might be the biggest issue. There are plenty of websites that will advertise and sell your book for a percentage ofthe profit. -d-ale>

US NAvy uses Lotus Notes replicated over sat links for it's new mail system. cc:Mail over sat links still exists in some places. I say use a RIM pager
