you also learn how to think and handle information via writing papers and interaction/discussion between yourself and other students and the professor.
If you didn't know how before, then I think it's likely that you were doomed before you ever began.
The actions of a few will be used to punish everyone in that case. Every single incident of misuse will likely be met with cries to punish all gun owners.
All of your opinions about subjective matters are 100% objectively correct and everyone else's are simply incorrect. The joke was objectively unfunny whether or not certain people found it humorous, and your view on what a "jackass" is or what "respect" is is absolutely correct. There can be no other viewpoints, and this isn't a subjective matter at all.
Your comment was quite hostile and demonstrates your immense insensitivity!
But don't go blaming it on the victim
Your comment was very offensive to me. In fact, all of your comments are, and I deem them to have no value (and my opinion reigns supreme). Can you please refrain from commenting ever again? If you don't, you'll be insensitive. Don't go blaming the victim, either.
Sorry, but sometimes you just have to let all of your actions be controlled by another person's feelings; fun isn't allowed.
Maybe next winter you'll slip over and break a leg.
They could laugh about it if they wanted.
Oversensitivity makes me laugh, I know that much. And your comment contained numerous small things that I'm quite offended by. It adds up, you insensitive clod!
But it fails when trying to truly understand something. For instance, the memorization of mathematical equations. That's great that you can memorize them, but do you understand what they are, what they're for, and why they work? That's what I was referring to. In place of teaching those things, rote memorization is used.
Except that schools have to be decent, too. That means not relying on rote memorization and teaching to the test. Otherwise the parents may as well homeschool their kids.
Why is that? For all you know, his next point could have been "1 + 1 = 2." Without reading it, you can't really know if his other points are correct, and you certainly can't know by judging from a rather insignificant detail.
You know, if someone is horribly screeching at you, there's a good chance are you are in the wrong.
How does screeching at someone make you correct? What if they screeched at you that 1 + 1 = 3? Would that mean you're in the wrong for thinking otherwise? Or what if it's an entirely subjective matter? How could you possibly be "in the wrong" in that case?
You should know the consequences if you fail to be precise.
A few people will complain about it while nearly everyone else understands the point you're trying to make? Well, those are indeed consequences, but I wouldn't say it's that big of a deal.
Is Google more responsive to takedown notices than megaupload? Is there more infringing material on one service vs. the other?
I don't think either of these should even matter. The former is the copyright holder's problem (I don't believe anyone should have to enforce their own copyright for them as the DMCA makes people do), and the latter is the problem of the users.
Or telling the teacher if someone is picking on you in school.
I think it's even worse than that. These are people who you can likely easily avoid and don't have to deal with on a daily basis. People you've likely never even met. People who don't really know a thing about you (unless you publicize everything).
Not really. Society can't decide right or wrong any more than it can decide that 1 + 1 = 3. Individuals in society can adopt certain moral codes and try to get others to do the same (with the most dominant moral codes shaping the country's laws and norms), but that is all. Maybe the problem was the wording itself, but a majority can certainly be wrong.
those who rave about the need for firearms who are the most gung-ho in favor
No need for generalizations. I'm sure this is true in some cases, but certainly not all.
If someone only memorized facts, then I think they've missed the point of the website.
you also learn how to think and handle information via writing papers and interaction/discussion between yourself and other students and the professor.

clear communication holds value everywhere
Agreed. Good thing a small error doesn't actually make the original text unreadable!
The actions of a few will be used to punish everyone in that case. Every single incident of misuse will likely be met with cries to punish all gun owners.
Second, this logical comparison only works when neither group is routinely marginalized and demeaned by a pervasive institutional bias.
No, it works whenever you try to claim that your arbitrary standards reign supreme.
Would you really enjoy working or reading code written like:
No, because that looks like bad code. I wouldn't be offended by the comments, though.

and then they sit around and scratch their heads wondering why more women aren't in IT
Because someone hinted at the existence of big breasts? Man or woman, I'm not sure we need such oversensitive people at all.
Stop right there. I'm extremely offended by the word "depressing." How could you be so insensitive?
Then don't tell other people how to feel.
If they're going to call this sexist, I'll feel free to ignore them completely (the sexist bit).
Rote has its uses

Who says they do? It doesn't do what they want it to do, so it gets jailbroken.

Our game wasn't perfect, neither was it crap. It is fun, addictive, beautiful
That's completely subjective.
But was it a 2 or a 10?
Apparently to them, it was.
What's the point?
ignore do not follow links
Then that defeats the whole purpose of it in the first place. "Nothing to hide, nothing to fear," though, right?
That'll scare anyone without TOR into not even searching for it in the first place.
No, at most, it'll scare people into using something like TOR or not using Google.
Tell me about it. Some people do things that I personally take no interest in. Why don't they just grow up and like what I like!?
You know, if someone is horribly screeching at you, there's a good chance are you are in the wrong.

Are you saying you think your parents should have kept to their problem-free lives and never procreated?
It doesn't matter what I think about it now because I'm already alive. If they did do that, then I'd be none the wiser (I wouldn't exist).
If you think the person playing video games or "hacking" all day and night has none
I doubt anyone does, but they might believe they have fewer problems.
You should know the consequences if you fail to be precise.

No, it makes completely perfect sense.
Not really. Society can't decide right or wrong any more than it can decide that 1 + 1 = 3.
