    Just goto besonic
    tracks cost between $0 and $1.2 but typically $0.25
    A CD of music would probably cose $3 on adverage, but you could pay $0 or upto $12 I suppose.

    Loads of good new musicians, you can stream other peoples playlists to help find new music, high bandwidth (never got less than 60k download) basicly a great site.

    Just drop EMI,BMG, the RIAA &co is the hole where they belong.

    should work on atleast 2.x.

    From what i've heard (and i've experianced) most of the kernal brekages are poorly planned, i.e. If your going to break things, break quite a lot of things at once and get the design good enough that your not going to have to break them again for quite some time.
    Breaking modules once or twice ok, but if you break them more often you should really re-design the interface layers to allow for better backwards compatibility. (I think this is being done in 2.5 and about time!)

    I havn't read the book, but my ex boss didn't and took that quote as gospal, he was of corse a crap manager.

    100 people on a 6month project and you'd find two of those people have sufficient knowlage and skills you'd get the project done in 4months while the other 98 do nothing.

    So try again,

    How long will the project take?

    6 months,

    And if there are 2 people on the project?

    [with your management] a year.

    And 10 people? [puts hand down trousers and scratches]

    [you don't get it do you?] 4 years..

    Yep it's aiding and abetting. I always though that 'law enforcement' was supposed to prevent crime, not wait for someone to commit enough crims that they can be locked up.
    Maybe if they'd stoped him after 1 hack he wouldn't have hacked again, just maybe, but instead they let him do 100 hacks so they could get an extradition order and lock him up. That's a plan if ever I saw one.

    BTW: What are you writing VBA marcos for (e.g. word, Excell, LookOut).
    There not that hard (infact very easy since you can record and edit them if you can't remember how to do something).
    If you have a problem with VBA then the changes are you'll have a problem with any reasonable size development, this isn't to say that you problems can't be overcome.
    unless you use JavaSript in ASP (like I do) then there's not much diffrenace between VBscript and VBA.

    I can see where your comming from and I totaly aggree

    What happens when the single progammer is sick or leaves, yeh I can see how productivity is going to sky rocket.

    How about the cross training that goes on when you have more than one person working on a project, that's useless of course.

    Social aspects to working with someone else are a right pain, I wan't to work for a company that sticks me in a hole and leaves me there, that'll get the most out of me, and I'm sure to stay.

    "Windows vs. Linux", Ok I'm no windows fan but has anyone noticed all the bickering that goes on in the Linux comunity,
    I can see the productivity gains apearing right before my eyes (are there still atleast two VM's kicking around?)

    Could you use Tex or SGML and have layouts to convert to whatever format you need.
    A text editor is good enough for SGML or TEX and the formats support everything you could do in a word processor (and probably more).

    EMacs may have addons for Tex and SGML

    The next big thing will probably be mobile application for PDA's and Phones and anything else, so I'd learn Mobile Java next.

    By doesn't help fonts at all I presume you ment Outline [vector] fonts.
    What about bitmap fonts, vector fonts are slow as hell which is why I use bitmap(or hardware) for terminals.

    I'm using outline font's for must things but not terminals. You shouldn't need AA on vetor fonts

    Whan was the last time someone brought some windows software, well maybe a few games but seriouly home users never buy software if they can help it, and companies will try to put of buying software for as long as possible.
    Winzip, Textpad, trial software etc...

    (BTW I don't own a single pireted piece of software)

    If I leave my doors unlocked and the key in the car my insurance won't pay out, it's called negligance.
    If they could have stopped the hacker after a few hackes (or attempts) but didn't because they wanted to watch the attacks then that's aiding and abetting(you are doing everything in your power to encourage the hacker to hack the system)

    If they are 'helping' the hacker to gain entry (by making there systems less secure than they would be) Isn't that aiding and abetting?

    And how can it be a 'crime' if your deliberatly letting someone to you?

    It's like leaving a pile of gold on your front door step and then screeming blue murder when someone takes it.

    imap is fixed in that it won't download your whole folder list in a nasty infinate loop by default.

    There's also a global pref's option, instead of different options depending upon what 'folder' your viewing.

    still isn't QT though, I might have to port the ui!

    One this that appears to be missing from the other posts is management systems,
    OSS can potentially attact a huge number of devlopers, most of which can only spend a few hours a week on OSS, this is amanagement nightmare.

    I'd like to tie up all the code/bugs/designdocs/developers into a nice heiricical linked structure kept in a configuration management system. That way I can look through the open bugs
    find out what modules it's thought to relate to
    find out who's responsible for the various parts and look an creating a patch.
