There's always the idea of patenting 'evil' or 'world domination' techs to prevent Bill G, Monsanto etc... from taking over everything. e.g. Patent business models &co that you believe might exist in the future because of genetics, or DRM or advances in medine.
That way you could charge a high license fee to the company if they don't sell there drugs etc... cheeply or don't generally toe the line. or just not let them pratice at all.
No quite the opposite, I was pointing out that the parent only appeared to be accepting human intervention if he could actually see a human there at that moment in time.
Cheers, After reading the rest of the comments it was apparent that the first part of the Poincare conjecture was proved and the second part had already been proved.
I very much a layman when it somes to topology, but it was still fairly obvious that the proof is very important.
No the reason environmentalists come under attack is because of people like you.
Lets say there's a lake miles away from any people, but down wind from an XYZ factory thats 100 miles, pollutants from the factory can be found in the lake. So, humans have affected the lake.
If they were being perdantic chanobal left it's mark over most places on the globe as did necular testing.
This has a lot of implications for anything in 4d space. Basicly before the proof you couldn't be sure what limits existed, now an extra limit has been placed on 4d environments.

Would you company invest more in a country if that country offered it some free open code or no free open code.
Would you feel bad about that country having even more to offer by any efforts you put into that free open code or do you think keeping the improvements closed and to your-self is the best way to boot the economy of said country.
Why don't they mandate the companies must run an application on there workstations.

from the FAQ's " You're supposed to provide the source code by mail-order on a physical medium, if someone orders it. You are welcome to offer people a way to copy the corresponding source code by FTP, in addition to the mail-order option, but FTP access to the source is not sufficient to satisfy section 3 of the GPL.
When a user orders the source, you have to make sure to get the source to that user. If a particular user can conveniently get the source from you by anonymous FTP, fine--that does the job. But not every user can do such a download. The rest of the users are just as entitled to get the source code from you, which means you must be prepared to send it to them by post.
If the FTP access is convenient enough, perhaps no one will choose to mail-order a copy. If so, you will never have to ship one. But you cannot assume that.
Of course, it's easiest to just send the source with the binary in the first place. "
" "Valid for any third party" means that anyone who has the offer is entitled to take you up on it.
If you commercially distribute binaries not accompanied with source code, the GPL says you must provide a written offer to distribute the source code later. When users non-commercially redistribute the binaries they received from you, they must pass along a copy of this written offer. This means that people who did not get the binaries directly from you can still receive copies of the source code, along with the written offer.
The reason we require the offer to be valid for any third party is so that people who receive the binaries indirectly in that way can order the source code from you. "

So if they sell a $99 CD with the binaries on it (ok by GPL) they must also give you the source on a CD, just via email isn't good enough.
