    ...they have too much power. I hope this kid beats the rap and the abusive powers we have given law enforcement are brought to the attention of the nation.

    Your scenario has already happened, and no phreak was involved. Incompetent pigs with too much firepower and the right to bust in with no knocking resulted in the death of a grandmother. They got the wrong house.

    I, at least, am not so pants-fillingly scared of the bogeyman that I want my law enforcement to have these powers.

    Our police SWAT teams always comport themselves justly. Of course, due to cowardice of many American voters, they can now just bust in and start shooting without saying a word. If a few innocents have to die so that the retarded "take my freedoms and tell me I'm safe" can be shown how wrong they are, so be it.

    Of course, I'm betting it won't be my house...pretty good odds :D

    But your examples of 'Liberals resgtricting Rights' seem petty and disingenuous which are often the signs of a troll. To me, those are non-issues compared to being spied on with no warrant or having my habeus corpus rights taken from me. Being lied to in order to start a war...it was conservatives who did that. Adding 25% to the national debt...that was conservatives. I don't really care about gun ownership...the only reason I'd want guns would be to protect myself from government. A semi-auto rifle can't compare to the military and para-military police forces out there, even if the Iraqis seem to be pulling it off.

    Federal tax code takes money from 'rich' states and gives it to 'poor' states. The Rich states...NY, NJ, CA, CT, etc...all pretty liberals. The poor states? MO, MI, LA, AL, NM, AL which trend conservative. Yeah, you weren't the right person to make that comment to since I have no idea where you live.

    In fact, they aren't rights. They sound like mush-brained talking points.. I couldn't say anything bad about the lies used to invade Iraq without being called a traitor and worse. I couldn't question the use of the fighting in Iraq without being told I hate the troops. You know, shit like that. You seem to want all the benefits of a high-tech society without paying your fair share in taxes.

    Big difference. He was annoyed by children, I am afraid the lazy tax-leeching parents will accuse me of some made-up child-related wrong-doing.     Perhaps decades would be harsh, how about 4 - 6 with no parole? Non-profits are tax-free (and other perks) because they are being rewarded for helping society. I'm not sure how over-stating the threat of online child predation is really helping society. My cynical mind sees that as a way for the organization to justify its existence. Truth should be our goal in all endeavors.

    A few degrees can make or break many of the livable areas on our globe. Our entire civilization was built arround how the planet functioned at a certain temperature range, increasing that temp has already had negative effects. I'm of the mind that we need to fix this if we can, and there is much evidence that by changing what we piss into the environment, we can effect a change.

    We've pissed away a Trillion Borrowed Dollars into Iraq and only made terrorism worse. There were many people who poked holes in the reasoning for the conflict, but it happened anyway. I wish the pants-filling cowards who let that go by would also realize that climate shift will kill far more than the few thousand who died on 9/11.

    So why not piss away another borrowed Trillion Dollars on making our energy systems sustainable?

    This is something agreed upon by a very large majority of scientists across the globe.

    Personally, even if they are over-reacting, polluting the environment is a very bad thing. Since we have only one planet that can sustain human life, I think we should err on the side of caution. If it means you have to spend more on fuel and new energy technology, well, we had it pretty good for a while.

    I love the terrorist-fearing pant-loads crying that the terrorists use women and children to fight off the people who have invaded and occupied their country. Do they really think American women and children wouldn't volunteer to help resist the Chinese, if they entered our nation and set up a puppet government?

    All I can say about this conflict is that nobody I give a shit about was stupid enough to believe the government's lies and enlist to fight in Iraq. My deepest condolences for those who enlisted pre-2003 to defend their nation...these men and women are being misused.

    W2K stripped down lets me play the few games I enjoy, run eclipse, and waste time on the internet. Plus, I can re-install as often as I like. Someday I'll move to Linux...probably when I can run the latest Civilization game on it.
