And perhaps read the article? The wire itself isn't made of poisonous material. And if the enclosing pipe breaks it'll release Nitrogen into the atmosphere. You know, the same atmosphere we breath...which is a bit over 75% Nitrogen.
I bet you a large chunk of cash that his parents had him under immense pressure to do well in school. Maybe he wanted to be like his bro, cause they kept holding him up as the golden child. When he got suspended...who knows, scared of what the parents would do maybe, and offed himself.
I have an IT job. I am well paid, I get excellent benefits. I am required by my employer to take a week of training a year, which they pay for. I am expected to take 4 hours of overtime a week, that's in my contract. If I didn't want that I'd quit. My benefits are excellent, should they degrade I would quit. If your job is not satisfactory, then leave it. I don't even want to heard about the H1-BA visa people...if it's so bad, go back home.
In my company, there is a small underground push for a an "IT Union". Ever heard of the CWA? They trotted out Jesse Jackson during a push for unionization during our last stockholder's meeting! You gotta be kidding... Fact is, the only people I know who support it, are not exactly valuable assets to the company. Their skills are weak, and they are unwilling or unable to learn new technologies.
I believe that if the company believes the Union to be a threat they will increase pay/perks/benefits to those employees who deserve it. Treat them right and they will stay.
Buy the carton and remove the cigarettes. Smoke 'em if you want, or give them to your friends or homeless people. Mail the empty carton with an appropriate note. This way, the evil tobacco gets USED, which should piss 'em off even more.
I don't want to sound like a troll, but did you know that the Teacher's Union is the entity that pushes for those rules? The unions don't want records of the poor performance of the majority of their members, so they push for banning recording devices on pivacy grounds. I am serious. They know the caliber of their members, and they know that the their organization does not reward those who excel. In my local schools, your pay is dependant on time served. That's it. Good or bad, if you hang on to your job (and the admins are loath to fire a teacher, lest the union call a strike) and you just keep getting raises. Granted, the salarys are not stellar, but there is just something wrong with that.
Maybe I'm being cynical, but considering that the bullies introduced the idea that the kid might bring a gun to school...
Sounds like they were baiting him to say just what he did, with plans of reporting him to the authorities. I'm sure these kids had heard about the 5 yearold being suspended for drawing a picture of a knife, etc...
Maybe his father can get some pro bono legal aid. I used to be against sending my future children to private school, but the way our public education system is worsening, I may have to suck it up. He should find out who ratted him out and make their life difficult. Obviously, the system isn't working correctly.
Not all Slashdot readers are Linux Zealots. I could care less what happens to the 2..maybe 3 desktops Linux now has. Doesn't matter really, since Linux is never going to make it commercially on the desktop anyway.
I bet you dollars to doughnuts that VALinux has a "partnership" with them. Kinda like with FatbRain.com, yah know? Dying companies need to hang together to weather the storm.
Imagine more internet users with cheap PCs...maybe even free PCs gotten with their cable-modem service. They don't have the cash to drop $300 for the latest Microsoft office suite! All the really good software is money, and these users probably won't be messing with their PCs to install Linux. Can you imagine a Windows XX PC totally remote-controlled by the ISP who provides it? Of course the ISP won't support an alternative OS! Of course the ISP will cooperate with the government to find users with illegal MP3s and un-liscensed software! I'm hardly a bleeding heart, but this could easily become just another way for the authorities to keep the poor down:)
As long as those who aspire to be "internet highbrows" still exist, you will still have a audience. I'm having a vision...Katz...a fiddle...a burning city...
Because the churches do not pay taxes, while lockheed-martin does. If they want to compete for government money, let them PAY TAXES on that income! I don't care if the gov't hires the Zoophile Association to clean the parks, as long as th eplaying field is level.
I hope all the engineers working on this project have thought of this! Quick, what's the number for their offices so I can warn them!

Watch that knee!
I'm not a big fan of organized religions, and I find the idea of a religion needing a structure to be legit very disturbing.
Guess I better start purifying my code then!

In my city, 1st year teachers make 30-35k depending on district.

Pretty fucked up if you ask me.
The Unions. Yes Sir!

Continue to choke down the lies your peers and poorly trained musicians feed you. Liek Judge Smales once said...Someone's gotta dig the ditches!

They've got the marketing, but I'm not seeing this technology.
Vapor.
I hope you answered that question with "An also-ran".
You *really* have to work on your trolling skills. Unless that post was sarcasm, in which case I take back my laughter.
Oh yeah, and it's "lose".
well...duh! What'd you expect from slashdot?
You are too right...there are people in industry and government having wet dreams about the scenario you've proposed.

Was wondering if you could help me with my tax-dodging church plan.
