Same here. Kernel 0.9pl6. I miss the days when the kernel source fit on a single 3.5in floppy and one could read through all the config options in less than 10 minutes.
Looks like it. They need to address the problem of RFI and EMI to have any hope of succes. With digital, as long as the interference is not great enough to flip a bit, it does not matter. But with chips like these, radio frequency interference may bias the results in subtle and unpredictable ways. Lightning strikes or even cell phone use could change the results.
Once some virus writer figures out how to change a system's "signature" to look like Windows has been pirated, things will get more interesting for Microsoft customer support. Souunds like a genuine disadvantage to me.
I live 10 miles outside a city. No DSL, no cable, no FIOS, no Wifi, no WiMAX, etc. With the ATT 3G service I was routinely getting around 1.2 Mbps down which was sufficient for my needs. I could easily reach the 5GB limit in less than a month of reasonable usage. Youtube was just an example. There are lots of other compelling broadband services. A local WISP started offering 900 MHz 2Mbps (measured peak bandwidth!) service and even offered to give me a discount to offset the $150 fee that ATT charges to break the contract. It was an easy decision to switch.
Even if we assume that their speed claims are true, the benefit of this new product will be severely limited if ATT Wireless retains their currently policy of charging $0.25/MB once users hit their monthly limit of 5GB. I finally gave up on ATT because it was such a pain to monitor my usage and stop normal broadband activity (e.g., youtube, etc.) near the end of every month when I got close to the limit.
The downside would be to have overdeveloped musculature without the corresponding increase in bone density/strength. When I was a kid, I always wondered why the bionic man on TV didn't fracture his spine when he used his bionic arm and bionic legs to lift a semi-trailer with one hand.
That's right. Between "talk" and "finger", we had all the elements of the so-called "instant messaging" more than 10 years ago. There was even an app called "xhtalk" that would show a buddy list (although they did not call it that) with the status of each person (logged on, activity, etc.). There aren't very many new ideas in IM that were not on *nix first.
After having weasel DOJ lawyers wave "possible life inprisonment" and "possible execution" in his face every day for the past 4 months - possibly even threatening to deport his family - of course he pleaded guilty to a 7 year sentence.
His wife was born in Oregon. Where would they deport her to? California? That would show them. By then Arnold will be governor.

How much time can they expect a person to spend going over all their friends' usage logs? Seems like it would eventually become tedious and people would lose interest.
Intuit is becoming harder and harder to deal with. They recently changed to a license authentication scheme with TurboTax that attempts of enforce one non-transferrable license per machine. They'll sell you TurboTax now but if you upgrade your PC at Christmas time and re-install, you must pay full price for another license before they will authenticate you on the new machine. Perhaps anticipating the wave of customer complaints, Intuit has stopped answering their phones with humans. You now get a recording directing you to their web site. As soon as I find a viable alternative, I'm dumping Quicken and TurboTax. It's not worth the hassle.

"Steve navigates normal daily chores with the help of a âwi-fi detectorâ(TM) which spots areas he should avoid."
Let's see, if someone could sense WIFI why would they need a separate detector??? Hmm...

This already exists. It's called spamex (www.spamex.com).
