OK people. I know there isn't a lot to do in the great state of Indiana, but come on! It is a fricken chair!
How much tweeking does there need to be for something that's been around for so so long. For god's sake... you take your ass and put it firmly in the center of the stupid thing. If you aren't comfortable... you get a better chair or you get up off of your fat ass and walk around until the blood starts to circulate again.
If you ask me ( i know, i know...no one asked me), these people aren't engineers. They've gotta be from the business school...MIS majors with a minor in Marketing or something... What do they call it??? "product continuation"??? That's where *they* market a product differently just because they want more cash outta it. "Cash cow" i believe is another term. You know... what they did with the IBM s/390...
PU Intern: s/390 product sales are slipping again, sir.
Marketing director: Hmmm... what can we do to make these mainframes more sexy?
PU Intern: I know, sir! Let's call it a "server". IT folks love the sound of that word!
Back to my rant...It's just a chair, people! Plus, can you imagine the abuse those sensors are gonna take with some admins 400lb ass shifting around and farting all day while he takes Q3A crack pot camper shots at some dude in Japan.
Bots, linux and quake...Mmmm... good entertainment

I say we create a couple of/. linux learning bots for the show and make them act like Q3A bots. Give em a rail gun (and maybe a grenade launcher) and then make them jump around a lot. That would be cool!
I had a lot of fun in college and I learned a lot about systems integration and software design. I understand the WANT to earn money right away, but we all NEED to learn in order to stay in the business. I guess that if you get that education from either work or school, you are better off in the long run. Remember, this economic and technological boom won't last forever. Better prepare now for the need to find a new job. School is always a good place to start.
I wouldn't compare 2.2 against Win2K for one reason...Linus doesn't think it was good enough to beat NT4 due to misc. bottlenecks in the 2.2 kernel. From what I understand, they have fixed these constraints in 2.4 and things are feeling much better now. Linus says he will never go back to 2.2 because it was too slow. I will follow Linus on this on...compare NT4 AND Win2K against 2.4.
I just got off the phone with Comcast in my area. They told me that they updated the user agreement because of people using the service as a home business and these people relying a little too much for the basic home service. I asked if I were still allowed to connect to my employer over VPN for email and file transfers. They said "no problem". The way I see it, they don't mind the casual stuff, but if you start to depend on the service being there for primary income, then they have a problem with the use. "Comcast@Work is a little more robust than that of the standard @Home service." I think we all can agree with that knowing how slow @Home can be from time to time.
As far as NAT and personal networks...I have no comment (hehe Are you kidding?!? They're wonderful! I use them all the time!)

You can pick your friends.
You can pick your nose.
But never ever pick your friend's nose in an election year.
I don't get it. This guy seems to have had little difficulty installing MD 7.1 from the boot cd/disks, however, when I install from the boot cd , I get the Red Hat looking install and not DrakX. This sucks!
Not only have I NEVER seen DrakX, but it looks like the Red Hat looking installer assumes that you've already got your linux partitions set up. This sucks!
I had to go back and use an older RH install disk in order to set up / and/usr. After partitioning using RH, I was able to install MD from the boot CD (still no DrakX BTW). Once booted and logged in as root, I couldn't find ANY of the special MD tools that this guy or MD mentions.
Piece of dirt.
Does MD 7.1 require MS Windows to be installed on the system in order for DrakX to start?
If so, I would reconsider the install path so that non-MS users can install the product with the same ease. Let me recap: After several installs (5 I think) I never saw the DrakX install screens!
Dynoman7 Blame it on the black star. Blame it on the falling sky.
Aircraft carriers also have aircraft and surface to air missiles. I wouldn't expect to find net access for the masses while at sea (not yet). How many cars have internet access thus far? Not many I would 'spect. -Dynoman7
MIT was railed by Texas Tech.
Texas Tech almost dodged MIT's rocket.

hackers in Russia that HAVE taken Windows off our hands!
I agree, but if we used our missle defence system on it, I have a feeling it would still crash in water.

With all that methane in the air, we may get a little loopy and start seeing jack-a-lopes or something. Do they have free water on Titan?
