    I have no problem with Sun charging for StarOffice. What bothers me however is the fact that Sun keeps changing strategies and never sticks to anything. This company will bite the dust sooner or later if it doesn't wake up.

    If Europe is superior to US then they would be leading not following the US. Sure the US have it's share of dumb laws, corrupt politicians, crazy people, etc. but the shocking truth is that all other countries are even worst.

    The only smart quote that I noticed in the interview was : "To have a whole bunch of money at a really young age and see how completely useless it is--it trains a lot of folks in the real value of things."

    The rest is not worth reading.

    That's what I do to. And it's fine with me. I've been trying GNOME and KDE since 1998 and I haven't seen much improvement in the interface. Actually the look is still almost the same. I still won't use Linux as a desktop OS, it's a server OS.

    I'm pretty happy with my setup, Windows on the dekstop and Linux on the server side is the perfect balance for me. I got the best of both worlds.

    I guess that's why I never saw the BeOS in computer stores. MS probably made a deal with them so they would not put BeOS on there shelves :)

    let's see, around here in Montreal the temperature used to be like -20 degrees celsius at this time of year. Well this winter, it's like -6 degrees celsius. I don't feel like we're in winter.

    Where I worked at, sure the MCSE's where clueless about the Mac's but they had the decency to admit it and we sure hired a Mac technician for that. Unfortunately the problems didn't go away.

    Of course we were using OS 9, because we needed QuarkXPress and some pretty old stuff. I can't really say much about OS X because we haven't used it yet. I played with it but that's it, it was kinda too slow on a G3-500.

    good point. Look at France, looks like the free healthcare system is working nicely in there.

    Why isn't the government sufficiently funding the healthcare system? Where does 50% of my salary go? And even worst, apparently they'll be pushing the retirement age to 70 by 2010.

    Complaining about the US healthcare system? You should take a look at the Canadian system. Around here patients die not because they don't have enough money but because they have to wait a year for a surgery. Some nurses are even refusing to work, others are getting sick. It's a freakin disaster.

    Apple is focusing on a niche market. Obviously you know nothing about marketing.

    Oh yeah and Steve Jobs is a saint. Steve Wozniak is Apple's create. Jobs only job is borrowing ideas and marketing them just like Gates. Isn't OS X based on BSD?

    Of course it can, OS X is a clone of FreeBSD.

    I worked in a place where we had 200 Windows PC's and 10 Mac's. Trust me, it's the Mac's that needed more maintenance. You got font problems, QuarkXPress crashing by itself and the keyboards had quiet a few problems.

    Sure Mac OS runs flawlessly when you're not doing any serious work.

    Apple doesn't have the resources needed to make their OS compatible with all the thousands of different hardware available on PC's. It's an enormous task.

    Good point, after all there's enough overpopulation as it is. You sure should be qualified, mature and responsible before becoming a parent.

    I am a lot less shocked when I see sex on TV now(i.e. not at all), that I was when I first started seeying this kind of thing at age 18.

    Look at me, I'm probably one of the most peacefull guys on earth yet I play RTCW, MOHAA, Unreal and plenty others. I even put a little trash talking into it.

    Windows code is already available as part of the "Shared Source" license (or whatever it's called). Some colleges have it, some OEM's have it, so I don't see why MS will say no to the states.
