Of course Internet Applications are going to be big with consumers. I don't see why they wouldn't. They don't require installation, they don't crash, they don't take space on the harddrive and they're easier to use. This can be good to Linux. The more PHP or Zope apps we create, the better.

Yeah it's that easy but please don't say it too loud. I'm pretty sure that Compaq and Dell aren't looking for a lawsuit. If this happens, Compaq and Dell will blame it on Windows XP for making it easy to steal music and MS will blame Adaptec for providing the technology to Burn the music. Adaptec will blame it on the CD Recordables. Result, every CD Recordable you buy will cost you double.

Well looks like the day has come where I actually have to defend Apple's and Steve Jobs position.

I think that Apple and MS should audit Disney to see if they have all the required licenses. Thanks to proprietary software, we can have our sweet revenge :)

Sorry if I was a little rude.

The problem is that casual users will have trouble installing those options. Most people can't download the updates from windowsupdate.microsoft.com, you want them to be able to install the optional features?

Linux is for computer geeks while Windows is for all the others. I'm happy with this situation.

This has made Linux VERY attractive to me, while MS just seems to sit there saying "I know what you need, it's my newest $100 upgrade that won't change a thing." Of course, what this really means is "don't like the bugs? Too bad! Pony up or suffer!"

Actually there's plenty of new features. Of course those features won't change a thing for you because you're a student. But in business, those new features are a welcome addition to users and developers alike. You have no idea how some users are a pain in the ass just to have that little extra feature. They don't care if it slows down the app or not, they just freakin want it.
