Translation: Tipper has practiced censorship throughout the eighties and nineties in a misguided attempt to protect Americans from freedom and themselves. A wolf in sheep's clothing, she is a right-wing republican at heart and would like nothing more to see America as a real-life "Stepford Wives". Along with her husband, she continues to spread misinformation and untruths to this day to further Al's political career.

Since when is HTML considered "Source Code"? How can HTML be anything but "Open Source"? If they were running a bunch of perl or something, I would almost give it the benefit of the doubt. What a retard. I hope the Libertarians do something really great to give the voters an alternative, cause George Hitler, Jr. and/or Algore aren't EVEN getting my vote. Who wants Tipper Gore (of PMRC fame, never forget or forgive that) to be that close to power? I was worried when she became Mrs. Vice Prez. I'm really gonna start sweating if she becomes the Wirst Lady.

I'm not sure that giving companies the SAME discount for exclusively using Intel chips is monopolistic. Especially when they aren't giving less of a discount if the company uses AMD (or other brand) chips in a different line of computers, and they aren't playing the MS game of secretly discounting certain companies more than others. Besides, is 6% really that much? On a celeron 300 that comes to less than 4 bux. Companies could add that into the cost of a new computer and you would never question it. Frankly, Intel is the only game in town until the K7 comes out, and that isn't even gonna be a cheaper alternative from what I've seen so far. Floating point is everything to me... AMD just doesn't cut it.

They do "This Island Earth" and it has got to be one of the funniest "Episodes" I have ever seen. Except for the one with the Leprechan-quistador. HAHAHA!

You could make a copy of it, or you could make a painting which is similar to it by copying it and then modifying the copy. Doing so is neither wrong nor illegal -- you've not harmed the artist in any way. But you aren't allowed to distribute copies or modified copies of the painting until a number of years has passed -- this is called copyright."
If an artist paints a picture and then you copy the picture, you have harmed the artist. The reason that copyright law prevents YOU from copying the work (whether you distribute it or not. you got that wrong, buddy) is because that artist has the right to sell or not sell (or distribute freely for that matter) that painting, any copies of it, and any modifications of it. If he didn't, no one would buy his work, they would just copy it. He starves, but hey, his work is famous because it's everywhere! Big deal! Fame isn't going to feed him!
Artists and musicians have a need for this kind of protection. Their work is abstract in nature. Someone with the same amount of talent can create the same kind or style of work, but to directly take their work and use it or distribute it as your own is wrong, and ultimately hurts them. If there is a question of whether or not there is a copyright infringement, let the courts decide. But let's not take away their ability to make a living from their creations.
If you want to give away something that you have created, fine. I'll give it the once over and see if it's worth using, and I might even give something of my own away too. But the second you try to take away my right to make money off of my own creations, whether physical or abstract, then I'll give your creation back to you and take my ball and go home. I'm not playing anymore.

Would come in handy when talking to clueless Windoze users. That way you don't have to stop what you were doing, reboot into Windoze, and then boot back into Linux when they go away. Beats having two machines on your desk, or paying for another machine just to run Windoze on.
By the way, they are working on making BeOS a guest OS. This would let you Linux ppl experience nirvana, without actually leaving configuration hell:)

Get some spaceship models. Use parts from models and glue all over your case (greebles or nernies). Paint Black. Will look like the outside of a spaceship or some kind of freaky Borg thing.
Buy a disco ball. Use little plastic mirror stickers all over the outside of your case (inside too if you want)
Collect all those AOL and MSN CDs. Break into pieces. Glue shiny side out to case. Also works nicely with bad CDR copies.
Plexiglass and screws and a drill - Instant see through case. What are you looking at tho? Can't see the data moving...
Get foam rubber mix. Mix up. Apply to case. Airbrush or spraypaint.
Buy tiny beads at a craft store. Spray adhesive to outside of case. Roll in beads.
Get pictures (porn) from magazines or motherboard and peripheral manuals. Glue to outside of case. Spray lacquer on to protect.
Get several cheap cases. Do all of the above to many case covers. Build one or two machines. Swap out when you get bored.

Any two procs with the same clock rating can be run in SMP. Only place stepping would make a bit of difference is if you were doing some overclocking voodoo in addition to SMP. Of course, stepping only has a little bit to do with overclocking. The real test is whether or not the moon was full the night it was produced, and whether or not the chicken's guts landed with a splat or a thud.
It's not going away. You're going to hear about it more and more as it starts getting adopted by more and more people.
Frankly, I'm sick of hearing about Linux. Like a CLI server OS is going to replace Windoze on Joe Blow's desktop. Puh-leeze! And yes I've heard about KDE and GNOME... big deal. They both have a long way to go.
Any of you own stock in AMD? If not, this doesn't affect you. The way I see it, most buyers have probably been waiting to see what the PIII is gonna do. So Intel's sales slowed down while people wait to see whether or not they should go with PIII or PII. Also, AMD just released a new chip. PIII isn't on the market yet. I doubt we'll see this trend continue except for the occasional instance like this one.
Big freakin deal. AMD will always trail behind Intel. I'm all for more speed for less money, and all that, but AMD's performance isn't where I want it (Integer vs. Floating Point) and Intel's is. Too bad the PPC is so inaccessable outside of Apple. I think their floating point is better than Intel's. But I refuse to buy a Mac, unless Apple releases G3 and G4 motherboard specs to Be.
Actually, the hard way is to get a Slot One Celeron and drill out a pin, and solder a wire or two on the chip board thing. The easy way is here and it doesn't void your warranty on the Intel chip. It may void a warranty on a $10 "Slotket" adapter, but WHO CARES?
SHUT UP!
