After someone has seen the restricted document, inflict severe head trauma, wiping it from their memory. If you're not willing to go that far, DRM is pretty pointless.
"Ah yes, that feature is working in most browsers but we're still working around yet another bug in IE. Should work on IE also within 24 hours but we suggest using firefox in the meantime".
Down under, I too am mystified by summary guy's "West" blooper. Australia uses preferential voting for most of it's elections. Geographically we might not be very west, but we're usually lumped in with them politically. This is going to be another "USA sucks" thread. Must.. not.. mock.. America.. *twitch*..
Dammit, slashdot should unlink links in -1 messages. I got goatse'd yesterday, with innocents in the room. Luckily my goatse reflex is down to about 100 milliseconds so nobody consciously suffered.
The lesson to learn here is that Microsoft file formats are good for about 10 to 15 years if that. If you plan to keep your data longer than that, if you hope for your business, your government, your history to last longer than a decade, proprietary de-facto "standards" just aren't an option.
In reality, once you release your code, ownership is 99/100ths of the law, but I think the whole point of the very artificial concept of copyright is to entice greedy people to release stuff in the first place.
Aside from his accomplishments in Karate, Chuck Norris also has a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His fighting credentials are top-notch. Jokes aside, he's a very tough guy.
I don't care about "protection". Youtube has seen to it that there is a de-facto standard which works on 99% our clients' clients' machines. That's the only real consideration.
Not a fan of flash either, but the one application it is actually good for is the youtube-style video embedding. I prefer flash to the satan-spawned abominations quicktime & windows media player, as the platform support is better, among other things.
Yeah, in the sense that Microsoft is doing everything it can to impede Linux on the desktop, we will be going through Microsoft to get to where we're going.
The fittest specimens will still get the best mates, and the losers will get to bonk only other losers. Someone with one or two serious defects might get to shag someone else with only one or two serious defects, but their offspring, with a cluster-fuck of defects, will be increasingly less likely to reproduce. We can still ensure they have a good quality of life, however, their patent genetic crappiness will make "being allowed to reproduce" moot. Fuck authoritarianism, we don't need it.

How does it compare to filtergen + fgadm?
$ at now + 5 minutes /bin/sh
warning: commands will be executed using
> # put some undo commands here
> # get them right!
> ^D
$ # risky stuff here
then you can use atq and atrm to cancel the undo, assuming you didn't screw up.

I don't think they'd stop at just eight tentacles.
Programmers everywhere are dreading the unpredictable "second coming bug".
You could probably sell the same chair back to Ballmer several times :)
Microsoft could defeat Google in this arena by bundling Firefox+Adblock with their operating system :)
Meh. Smartphones are only complex because there was no google around to make them simple.
Stealing is a loaded word when we're debating the validity of the underlying laws to begin with. It's copying, dude.

Information wants to be anthromorphised!

He actually shits diamonds. Except when he's constipated. Then he shits miniature black holes.

I hear Africans actually used to be white until Chuck Norris gave them a dirty look.
If all these anonymous cowards keep taunting Chuck Norris, he might have to break the internet's backbone.
I hear he's going to represent himself, since nobody else is worthy of the honour.
The truth can't handle Chuck Norris.
