I went to redhat.com. I did not find any links about educational pricing at all! Yes, if I search for it I find it but that's pretty crappy marketing considering the widespread educational use. Where is the support for the core user base?
And all this talk about Licenses vs. Subscriptions...you can't download Enterprise Linux for free and even if you could you can't update it. So call it what you want, but you must pay for the service to use the OS.
1. RMS has a vision and idea of what he thinks is right. He is living according to his ideals which is more than I and many others can say.
2. Most geniuses were labeled as crazy lunatics in their time.
3. Judging by his actions, RMS wants to keep the idea of free software alive. Sometimes I think his mouth gets in the way, but it's always better to judge a man by his actions instead of his words. It's not so much that he wants everyone to start saying "GNU/Linux", rather he doesn't want the concept of free software (which contributed a large chunk to Linux) getting lost in the wash.
From what I've seen, in great disasters that take place throughout the world, human innovation and energy can correct many problems in a short amount of time. I agree, however, that the threat of people "flipping out" and joining some sort of mass hysteria may be more of a problem. We seem to be good at fixing many things, except ourselves.
I like the idea of a blacklist, but care should be taken in looking at the ramifications.
The term blacklist is quite negative (rightly so) and therefore will probably draw more than a little attention to itself (outsiders, companies, the PRESS). If users that have not been converted see only a bunch of flames on different companies, they may shy away from our little community. If, however, they see a professional site that explains itself well, they might say to themselves "Wow, it sucks those alternative OS users are getting screwed by ______." I think I want to help them out...

Hmm, slow for me too...about 650ms response vs. 150 for triton, and I'm on a university link.

Just a thought.
