If you came from PHP without any other language experience (except javascript). You cannot understand how PHP exclusively fit for Web development until you start do something with other language.
Other languages need for spesific frameworks, configurations, concepts for web projects. PHP was ready to run. When you try to learning other languages web stack you will be frustrated and return to PHP again. Other languages need extra steps to do simple things in web because of their nature.
Sure php much worse syntax and function names most other languages. However that was language quirks any professional can handle.
Problem is, php entry level is low and with abundant documents and training videos people easily put something on web and so they think they can handle big projects.
And without strict guidelines for project management, php can be lethal as a dodge viper on rainy day.
What you need is, find a battle hardened Project manager which uses Jira and other tools to agile development plus getting know automated testing.
After 6 months You will be fine with php any given sunday.
If you insist to change, you should look Google GO. not.NET it was for windows shops for who develop desktop applications. It wasn't just a language, you have to change your development style, development environment working environment etc.
Google GO was logical next step, It was easy (to comparing other static languages) and it was forced writing disciplined code practices by nature. It fast and you do not need change entire environment. Plus you get military grade arsenal (comparing to php) for complicated projects.

I'm tasked to create webchat site. There where plenty load of technologies to deliver video and voice to viewer. However Apple gives only to HLS to play videos on their devices on web and no access to cameras from web. Also playing HLS on apple device gives a 20 sec delay to viewer.
Every other thing closed.
They reject Flash, they reject WebRTC. They reject anyhting but Apple.

After Kubuntu 8 my KDE pains was begin. No real ATI support (for dual desktop). Sucked performance, Weird Firefox problems. Some extensions never work because of that, this . I re fresh install every Kubuntu relases. Problems are same. Somewhere between 8.10 and 9.00 I try to use Debian desktop same results. And I use that desktop for my work. My anger grows and grows. Day by day I feel like I'm using Windows 95...
One day, After one maybe more years of sucking KDE 4 experience, I was nearly switching WIndows after more than 10 years of Linux Desktop usage, at that time, I search something, on a forum, somebody suggest that Sabayon Linux (gentoo based binary thingy) for some better video peformance or someting. I decide to give a try..
After first setup probably 4 months pass.
Results are interesting.
No ATI problem. Dual desktop (which I could not run ever under Kubuntu/Debian) run like snap. Decent desktop performance. It was very nice feeling to using Linux Desktop again.
Still have problem with Pulse audio and Flash videos and some times Skype gone mad.
Other than than it was fine and working...
And this bad KDE4 experience on Debian smells to bad...
No one can tell me they can't fix that sucking Video Card problem more than a year. At that time, I curse KDE guys, I curse ATI guys and I curse my self to coose ATI. I never think it was a distro problem.

I got an ATI 3450. IT's work with Older KDE's. Work with Ubuntu, Work with KUBUNTU 8.04 (with kde 3.5) Work with Windows. Even older KDE versions I can fire 2 different KDE sessions.

With default Driver. (non ATI). It detects 2 different monitors and displays them same z-index (both displays stacks up).
And with Proptary driver Detects tons of things and after login KDESKTOP does not show nothing was appeared in screen.
Anyway With any Microsoft Windows system it works flawlessly.

After 3 try (4.0. 4.1 4.2) I still not be able to work with dual monitors.
Their latest drivers are f*cked up in Linux Dual Monitor setup.
And guess what previous versions working good with dual setup.
And double guess what.
Older versions won't install never version linux kernels.
F*cking F*cks. C'moon we are in 2009.
They can make a 99$ card and can't wrote proper driver for Linux.
My current setup was first and last ati thing ever.
This week I will replace an onboard config or a new NVIDIA card.
