The console is after what desktop computing has become... your one stop entertainment shop... sortoff..
They are cramming in all the features that we in desktop computing has.. and give them a few more months and they'll have keyboards too. Console's come in from the hardware side.. where DTC ( Desktop Computers ) come in from the software side. We build machines.. and install OS's of choice and software of choice. Console is hardcoded that way.
all in all an entertaining read.. and possible thought on the future.. and PC with a console slot for linking the two ?!?!:
Seems you have to be in the dir.. then./xdoom to run it... and it works...but I also get a segfault... I'm compiling original code now.. to see it thats' a problem withthe patch or the code itself.. will lett all know.. Hmm.. comiled the original code.. it works fine.. seems the patch is not completely compatible Project anybody.. with extra features etc etc. Bain / Henti
As a Person working for and ISP in South Africa where there is a telecom monolopoly and lines take about 6 months to a year to install ( yes.. thats right ) we have to use wireless often to overide problems from our local telecom... security has never been much of an issues. This is an eye opener.
Wearables have the potential to safe alot of work and lives in the future, but as of yet I have not seen any convincing advancements to make it anywhere near mainstream viability.
I agree the prospects of wearables are amazing, as was VR back in the early ninties, but both still have a way to go before they can be applied real world situations at affordable prices.
I must admit.. I have been thinking about this a while.. and something that keeps cropping up if the effect zero-G has on the body ( depending on the lenght of time in zero-G ) and the question that has been hounding me.. is this..
How long will it take for people that have been to space hotels to start suing the space hotels for possible defects due to time spent in zero-G... and are the hotels really leable for it ?
there are so many linux machines out there.. and the kernel has so many internet protocols and other nice things that linux has become part of the internet and WWW...
so in a sence he's right..
Tho I would love to know what else Linus has done appart from just linux..
IT seems that just being on the internet is going to become an offence soon.
I assume since this incident they'll start cracking down on people with links to warez, cracking tools, exploits or pretty much anything they think can be classified illegal
once they start arrasting people for linking.. what stopping them from setting up a site with warez info and arresting ( try anyway ) everybody that connect to the site on attempt at piracy ( since you connect to the site knowing that it contains warez.. would be the same as being arrested in a club when you are underaged and know you're not allowed there or at somebodies house where drugs are used and they get busted etc etc..
In south Africa there are few laws covering internet crime.. but this is also not good... but I'm glad we are not so high on the crackdown list as other countries
why not just get a shell account on a machine outside AU and ssh into it.. setup a gz compressed pipe.. and redirect all traffic thru that... thereby they cannot filter it since it's ssh encrypted.. and gz compressed...
Ahhh... but it WINE a replacement for windows... it's not..
Wine is an implimentation of the windows API under Linux. therefor Wine is not a replacement for Windows...linux is the replacement.. wine just goves you windows fumcionality under linux:)
does this mean that if I ( living in sunny South Africa where we are not allowed to do this.) have a shell account ona Box in.au... and I reverse there then move the source to my local box... will that be legal..
coz then somebody in.au just need to setup a nice shell box and we can all referse there and publish everwhere !!!:P
Hacker \Hack"er\, n. One who, or that which, hacks. Specifically: A cutting instrument for making notches; esp., one used for notching pine trees in collecting turpentine; a hack.
I'm no coder.. but computers are my life... I'm a hacker.. and if you dare say that that because I cannot code like Alan Cox or Linux etc etc... I dare you to troubleshoot hardware or software problems like I can

Hmm .. seems to me like more and more of the freedom the internet used to have is being thrown out the window by corporate people getting involved ...
wonder if we can place the internet and related stuff under GPL

Since there are some that miss things like this once in a while ...
Where can I find episode 1 ????
