    If you're good enough, not to be traced, hence good enough to break into any machine, without trace, do you really think they will mind NOT getting $200, They prolly rip off $10 000 easily a day from some insecure creditcard site ;P

    Setup a Machine and they can hack into it to submit their stories.

    This way if they are good enough not to be traced, the chances are good they actually did something real. It also removes most of the possible "script kiddies" submittions ;P

    funny thing is the original comment was a joke, but it was obviosly a little close to home, then I made a joke about the troll status, and the irony of the slashdot tagline related to the article and my joke and the moderators responce.

    All in all this shows how silly this whole post was including all previos ones and it's moderation.

    Actually not ..

    most people remember hackers the movie with Miss Jolie, well if you look very closely at some of the "hacking" screens you can see the terminal is unix based, not indicative of linux per say, but at least it's not windows ;P

    I also many years ago planned to start a website dedicated to finding technical things in movies, like what OS was used for visual etc etc not limited to computers but anything technical. unfortunately life happened.

    It's like tabletop warfare, but you have RPG elements. Think something along the lines of Fantasy Warhammer, it had RPG but the characters were represented in the world and battles on a tabletop, I'm hoping they might be adding games workshop like fighting systems intot the tabletop aspect.

    This is the last line of verse int he national anthem of the USA.

    I don't think this is true anymore and we should propose a new national anthem for the USA. Maybe avarage people will then see what the new laws are doing to the country. Make a new flag as well, change it to reflect the real state of the nation rather then blindly believing the government is adhering to the ideas behind the anthem and flag, as it clearly does not.

    What is the "company" is the government. We pay taxes so the government can employ people to do the coding and still release it under GPL. why can't the governments contract small develop house to make the software they want .. GPL it and still win ?

    As a South African all I can say is, In the years of boycots and trade embargo's we have survived and innovated without the help of overseas companies and technologies. South Africa probebly has more raw talent then most 1st world countries, and I see it everyday in my work.

    I have high hopes of this move from the govornment and if there is needs we will develop it ourselvs if need by. that is afterall the strength of linux. scratch your itch.
    Just because we are on the southern tip of Africa doesn't mean we need the rest of the world to write code for our functionality.

    First of, KDE is one option. if you are that speed anal use a less resource hungry GUI. I use WindowMaker and it screams compared to other GUI's

  22. time to rethink for intel/AMD/etcetc on ATI Announces Next Generation 3D Technology · · Score: 1

    Well .. with time it seems that 3D card are now so powerful and have so much memory, you can just about port linux to run on the card alone.

    This made me think that maybe the x86 arch needs to be made to play catchup ASAP. what use is a 64MB 200mhz 3D card that can pump 1bil pixels etcetc if the core arch it runs on is still based on 70/80's tech.

    I think rather then mailing blizzard .. mail companies like loki requesting. They can go to blizzard and using the feedback from linux users to our advantage rather then blizzard starting to delete messages coz they say "We want linux ports"

    I grabbed it at first sight ! :)))

    Damn .. I love my GL screensaver ... *grin* ..
    It crashes my X once in a while .. when trying to run some GL stuff .. but it's better then nothing :)

    can't wait ot get unreal Tournament and Quake Arena on here

    Google started as a grad project for the owners .. and is based to run on Linux boxes .. and as a linux section was one of the search options right from the start.

    most people that used google when it was still on the stanford site know that .. and when it moved to mainstream and google.com domain the linux section moved to /linux

    I still use it as my main search engin for linux stuff .. and will prolly never move.

    10 out of 10 for the google boys :))

    now how about a NON-PORN section that auto-removes all porn sites from your search results *smile*
