I agree. I started from nook classic to kobo, then SONY Reader prs-350, and the last one wins in every category (battery, page flip speed, build quality, etc).
Sony Reader + Calibre combo is the "free" version of closed Kindle and the likes.
My HP Scanjet 5100C play Beethoven's Symphony No.9 couple of times when I use xsane to get it working, but it seems it only work with win95. Even if I can get Win95, I wouldn't even bother booting it just to use the scanner. HP!!! *sigh* Now the device is completely broken.
this cheap parport scanner was designed by engineers with very artistic hearts. IMHO an artist/programmer clear definition:
Programmer: D. Becker or D. E. Knuth
Artist: D. Duck employed by HP to design this fucking scanner.

I installed Linux-lite by Paul Gortmaker which could run in a really small size of RAM. Running nicely @ 2 Bogomips. the kernel is 1.0.9 and in/lib is libc.so.4.5.26 Linux lite comes with vi, grep, less, more, setterm along with basic/bin
the HD still have plenty of space left and I want to install mc, fortune, etc. Anyone knows how to install gcc by floppy?

I watch tv and likes recording good movies from our local tv SBS http://www.sbs.com.au jacky chan, jet lee, eat carpet, evangelion, alot of good stuff there. so I am going to buy myself a bttv tv tuner card to fit here in my linux box, so i dont have to turn on the tv (energy saving advantavge too) i can watch tv while staroffice in other desktop or i can add the tv in my dockapps using wmtv == check http://www.bensinclair.com/dockapp that would be cool.
for mpg, vcd, mp3, wav, mid, i have already mpegtv mpeg_play mpg123 xmms0.9(buggy) x11amp

I am a poor so i just have fun with things i have. i want a palmIIIx but i only have an old 386 1meg ram laptop so i just install linux there and bring it where i cant bring my desktop. i am happy:) tehehehehehehehe....

I have a 386 1Meg RAM running linux. But it's really really hard to get NT can run in this 386. Some NT guru here said the processor is way too old.
