  1. Re:Does dual core == 2xProcessor or hybrid? on AMD's Dual-core Athlon 64 X2 reviewed · · Score: 1

    While it probably doesn't no, i would think it's better off this way, i belive the clock across the entire processor is synchronus. I'm no engineer but i would think communication between the 2 processors would become a difficult task if the 2 weren't the same, also, the a64 core was designed from the start to be used in a dual core application, so a different core would somewhat negate the advantages.

  2. Re:market for this? on AMD's Dual-core Athlon 64 X2 reviewed · · Score: 1

    Originally there weren't going to be dual core A64s for now, though they would appear when the market demanded, only the Opteron was going to be dual core. I'm sure you can understand where dual core could be useful in a server environment. Intel decided to target the destop environment with the thier own dual core processors, mostly for multimedia applications, AMD not to be outdone decided to take the A64 to dualcore as well.

    At least, that's as well as my memory tells me about all the dual core press.

  4. Brings up an entirely different issue on Steam Users Steamed · · Score: 2, Interesting

    Lets say 10 years down the road I decide to try that old HL2 game again, it was fun :)

    Now lets say valve doesn't really care about HL2 anymore, or perhaps valve is out of business

    Well HL2 is a single player game, steam doesn't matter right? Not quite, I still have to validate my game files, if the servers are no longer configured for it, or are possibly non-existant, how exactly do they expect me to play my HL2 that I bought?

  5. Re:CGI isn't everything on Sky Captain and the Films of Tomorrow · · Score: 1

    Maybe some day, much like the internet bubble, the CGI bubble will pop. And I can again enjoy a good epic battle.

    The appeal of CGI isn't just that it's new, it the cost of it, it's far cheaper to use CGI to create some scenes than to actually go out and do it.

    And movies like Spiderman (or LOTR as you mentioned) are making enough money using CGI that i don't think it's ever going away. The full-CGI movies are still a thing of the future, but as CGI substitution gets better the full-CGI movies can't be far off.

  8. Re:continuity? Who needs continuity? on Star Trek XI: Romulan Wars? · · Score: 1

    Personally, i don't see why everyone gets so worried about continuity.
    These guys can't even make an original story with the trek name anymore without someone bitching an complaining about what's wrong with it, and not even bothering with how good/bad the story is.

    If this were some new movie that happened to have the same storyline as this war than people would be complaining that it's too similar.

    I one went and downloaded KoRn "Falling away from me" before the album was released (the band released it as MP3 but the record company stopped them) and i liked it... The day the album was released i bought the CD On a side note i would like to add, how many people actually download the WHOLE CD. it's not practical unless u have DSL or cable, so you get this one song, like it, you buy the CD. I usually do unless it's one of those 1 hit songs
