I didn't know Windows system admins were dying off all over the world because of this, but I wouldn't be surprised either....It all goes back to Microsoft somehow.
This brings up a more alarming issue that I believe needs to be looked into before we begin walking around with cyborg parts attached. What if the machines have suicidal tendencies? I'm sure if I was attached to someone else and forced to do their bidding, then I wouldn't be too happy. Maybe his arm wasn't happy enough just being his arm! What if it dreamed of being a cell phone...and watching him talk blissfully on that beautiful piece of machinery just threw the arm over the edge!
I'm not sure if this technology is in any resemblance to the old atom spinning technology that I read about years ago, and I've not researched into this much yet, BUT from what I remember of spin technology there is no need for "boot time" or "shutting down" a system. With the atoms spun in a certain position (say, to that of your normal desktop) the computer can be turned off, probably by the same usual methods, but it would shut off much like if you were to kill the power instantly. The atoms being saved in a certain position, would remain in that position while the computer isn't running. So when you next attempt to turn the computer on, it reads the position of the atoms and brings up the screen immediately, as if you had just turned off your monitor and turned it back on.
However, that is from something I read a long time ago. And I’m not completely sure that it will work like that.
Because, watching the underdog wipe out a Multi-billion dollar company, which, IMHO doesn't care about quality but only cares that you keep buying their products, would be a great day! Like watching James "Buster" Douglas beat Mike Tyson all over again!
I only see it with terms of cost, being that though it takes more time and knowledge/work to set up a Linux server, you don't have to pay for licensing. But I also believe that if I can make something free work for everything I need without having to spend $$$$$$$, then I'm all for it!

That's a horrible analogy IMHO. I don't see any need for humans to live longer than we do. We can pass on our knowledge to anyone that wishes to have it, and now have entire decades worth of knowledge, all at our finger tips. The only thing that matters is a persons thirst for such exploration. I'd much rather delve in something that stops the aging process (yes, i know, very far fetched) not to keep us alive for longer, but to keep us young till we die. Then you wouldn't have to worry about 80 year old people driving down the road, or unable to make a contribution to society, and could get rid of "old folks homes."
aye, paying for a Windows license would be expensive, where i would agree you should go the same route and change to a open source OS. You might have to hire some different techs for your IT department, but in the end you will save money not having to pay for support from Microsoft.
As for building your own system (which i work on a government computer so i know what you are talking about) i would say it shouldn't be that hard to find a company willing to sell bulk parts at a pretty reasonable price. I have not looking into this, but i'm sure it's out there.
Yes, but only for fixed wing aircraft, with most of the helicopters having their own separate air intake which is filtered. However, the new designs are still causing heating problems. I think the engineers only real concern is that a component won't overheat and fry itself, because the air isn't filtered outside of the closet very well. I would still like to see any of this come into Military Aviation, but i doubt that will be for a long long time.
Well, all i can say is that everything needs to be recycled, and i'm not big on doing that by any means, but that doesn't mean that companies can't start and work to just divide up all of our waste. I mean, it's not like we are running around eating plastic and metal! It's all still there, we have just decided to put it in landfills. And who care!? It's our nature to grow and expand and evolve! No matter what, the human race will survive. If i make it through or not is not up to me, so why worry about it. I say we continue to grow and strive for better things, no matter what the cost.
So hopefully, they will pass to remove all malicious and infected machines from the internet forever, and i'm sure it wouldn't take much to get the Evil Microsoft infected and scrubbed off...Then Unix takes over, and the internet world will find peace!
eh...forget peace, but really get rid of Microsoft already!!!
