  1. Ferrari or scooter? on Linux to be Development Environment for PS2 · · Score: 1

Of course I would much rather drive the ferrari. That's why I use Linux!

If that's a typical representation of the PS2 developers, I'm certainly not interested in their product. Geez, setting up a linux box is too hard? For developers? Give me a break!

  2. Linux by any other name... on Red Hat Backlash? · · Score: 1

Every once in a while, I'll hear the accusation that RedHat is too much like Windows, and that one should use a 'true' Linux like *** or ***. It always makes me laugh.

Take a linux box, any linux box. Without the tell-tale messages or logs, how would anyone know what distro they're using? It's very hard, and the differences they'd find as clues are very minor.

What it comes down to is Linux is Linux is Linux. If RedHat wins, all win.

  3. That does it on Anonymous Coward Sued for Slander · · Score: 1

You have GNU sense of humor, do you? I'd say something about rms, but I just realized I'm not logged on anonymously.

  4. Completely Free? on QPL 1.0 Released · · Score: 1

What exactly do you mean by completely free? Just can't please some people.

Geez, not even the sacred emacs is totally free. After all, I can't modify and redistribute it without supplying the source code.

Do you want everything in the public domain or something? If so, you're using the wrong OS.

  5. Real yahoos on LinuxWorld Show Favorites · · Score: 1

Weren't you the guys who'd rather B.S. than take my money and give me my t-shirt so I could get out of there?

Congratulations! It's time the real guys win!

  6. Why GNOME? on GNOME 1.0.0 Pre-release · · Score: 1

Why the big hoopla over 1.0 release, when it really should be a 0.8 release? Why do most mainstream Linux articles tout the fact that GNOME is almost here. Why do Linux insiders counter the argument of usability with "wait for GNOME"?

Is it because the Linux "powers-that-be" want everything to be GNU?

I've given GNOME 0.99 a good workout, and my conclusion is that it's not there yet. No documentation, parts not integrated well, slow.

I'm not knocking GNOME, I just don't think it's ready yet.
