Add MP3 software, graphics apps, kids' games, a crappy sound and video card, and all the other stuff people put on user machines and then see how stable the other OS is.

Alright I did just that on a linux slackware box with a gui, not just a shell, and well its a hell of a lot more stable than any windows machine I have owned.

What I am saying more than anything, is that the reason that I switched to linux was because of windows instablility, well among other things, but I didn't switch machines and I had much of the same genre of software, so perhaps you are right, but in my expiernce that statement was incorrect.

Anywho, the jist is, that you are in your cell 23 hours a day, no book, paper, nothing. Just you and the air conditioner turning on and off.

I was there for a brief period doing some consulting work in the midst of the construction project and I saw the rooms. There is one window 10 feet above your head, other than that, nothing.

I say give the normal people a month in there and see how they come out.

For the record, weed does not make you stupid, only after excessive smoking in long daily periods, can it really do any serious damage. If you take that seriously than you should think twice about coke.

Like I said, I am not yeah or naying either, I just think that was a mass oversight.

Because some people like to get physical reward (money) for their creations. This is the principal upon which capitalism is based: you do something in order to get something. Personally, how I license my code depends on how it's used. If I write, say, a unique CGI for a site that adds competitive value for the owner, then it goes under a proprietary license. If I'm writing something that's not all that unique (message board, etc.) then I use something simular to the "beer license".

I can agree with that. however this is in the idea of "off-time" hacks. Something that you do for you, cause you are having fun. Otherwise I agree completely.
