Apocoplyse Cow refrence at the end. I remember way back reading the old b&w comic strips. I know they had a URL for a while, but it seems to me they were in Dragon Magazine for sometime too.

At the time it was no 50ft cow, more like a cow in post apocoliptic war zone, big guns, bandillier, am I way off? My wife seems to think it was an old villian, I say nay. What says /.?

I just started on my download of slack 8 and I came over here to see what was going on.

Chances are that, no slack is not going anywhere. I have used about every distro I could get my hands on and nothing is like slack. If you can use slack than better chances are you can update your own applications to what they need to be.

IMO regardless if 8 is the last release, slack is going no where for a very long time.

Besides isn't the whole point of Star Trek to find new life in old plot complications, to go where every man has gone before!?

All in all, its got enough meat in the tense it stands to be a really cool show. however the soft core porn just has to go, that was a obvious plea for ratings.

The article that I first saw on CNet said that this announcement was *ONLY* the Justice Department and that this did *NOT* represent the wished of the individual states. The newest CNet article is unclear, saying that the Justice Department and the States and the Judge will all meet over the next two weeks. There might be a chance that the states won't go along with this. The Attorneys General of the states tend to be more progressive in consumer protection.

I know that this is common knowledge, but perhaps an example of why this is so fscking important will help.

I worked as a sysadmin for the 2600 linux desktop rollout for the supreme court of Wisc. The only reason that roll out failed was because of lack of filtering from Word Perfect/M$ Word.

If we had those filters, the Circut Courts Automation Process (a derivative of Supreme Court) would be all linux desktops. That would have been an amazing advance in the world of linux to the desktop.

This is really, really bad. People will see this, average joe home luser has childern, as being such they attend schools. They want thier children to learn "computers", however when the school has no choice but to

a: get rid of the computers
    b: use a free OS

Well (a) is not really an option and (b) will inspire them to use that same OS at home. Well its free and my kid knows it and he can teach me. If you have ever done tech support you probably know that most parents don't have any quams about learning computing skills from thier kids.
