But from the context of my post it was pretty clear I was speaking about English, as I was speaking in English, and not about Greek, because I was not speaking in Greek, so the meaning of giga(s) in Greek is entirely irrelevant to the point being made.
It replaces the new grouping in much the same way Einstein replaced Newtonian mechanics. It is a more accurate description of our place in the universe, just as relativity is a more accurate description of moving bodies, even if on human scales the two are nearly indistinguishable.
Imagine having to come up with an immutable law that will still have to be applicable after another two hundred years of scientific and technological progress and you too may understand why constitutions need to be amended from time to time.
Which is of course not to say that the argument from the government's lawyers isn't absurd and indicative of injustice.
It makes me wonder, though. Can you really say a robot is an "actor"? Doesn't that require having an idea of a self that you're purposefully not being in the moment?
Why does setting up a website that's basically an English version of 2ch make you on expert on what its users do with it? If I want to know how cars work, I'm not going to learn much from the guy who invented (copied, really) the wheel.

In neither of those words does giga serve as a prefix.
