    I have actually been playing with developing a webkit based browser for about 4 years now. No it will never be released, probably never finished, it's far from a feature rich browser, but has the basic plug-ins, scripting, and cookies controls and is about as usable as IE neither of which I would use regularly. A couple of the libraries I designed for it are in other things and I've used it to test ideas for other projects.

    I wouldn't be surprised if the 200 AC you're talking about have a couple projects just like it.

    I read about half the gizmodo article but when I got the part about vocal range I had to stop typical male vocal range is about 110Hz to 260Hz and it surely doesn't start below the lowest note on a guitar of 82Hz.

    You don't hear about the ones that fail because well... they failed. The ones that have no education or dropped out who somehow reach star like status with success are often times bringing something new that they wouldn't have learned about in school.

    Les Paul would be a great example, no formal education, high school drop out, yet he managed to get not only into the rock and roll but also national inventor's hall of fame. If I remember correctly he may have been given an honorary doctorate in applied music from UCLA? It's difficult to talk about electric guitars, effects, or modern music recording techniques with out it including some concept he pioneered or something he invented.

    My wife manages a convenience store and has that problem with employees that bring their cell phones to work... she will make them watch themselves play on their phone on security recording in fast forward before firing them. Really, 4-6 hours out of 8 hour shift spent on snap chat and facebook and you think no one would notice?

    We once had a woman that was trying to do web design on the side and was working on her client's websites while in the office for 3-4 hours a day.

    There is content that appears on multiple streaming sites but shows and movies that will draw the most users are the ones they try to get exclusive license to if they don't have exclusive content then the only competition is in user experience and price. If they continually loose content because exclusive licensing then they are screwed.

  7. I don't deal with anywhere near that much money or make bank transfers but I always talk to the person directly before I approve squat. I know there are a few people annoyed by it and have even complained but I don't care, it would surely have stopped something like this. I procure a lot of hardware and have small department heads that get blind approvals and then try to sandbag the purchases with upgrades and extra peripherals they tend to get pissed when I take those quotes back to confirm approval only for them to be shot down.

    I have no idea about PS4 but I do know I wanted to play Final Fantasy after my son bought it and my laptop plays PS2 and PS3 just fine just plug in a decent controller, put the disc in, and play. Not the same as my cmd 64 did with atari games but I'm sure there is a PS4 emulator somewhere.

    My brother has been watching these stocks and was telling me about them the other day... I however was not totally listening but he mentioned he was buying stock in a related company that had dropped from $86 to under $2 but would jump back up afterward I don't remember if it was a partner or a parent company.

    I know it just bugs me that everyone is freakn' out on climate change when everything they want to change probably should be for much more immediate reasons. The earth is going to warm up and cool down with very little we can do about it and giant portions of what are populated areas now like Canada and the the entire Northern US and Midwest will probably be under a glaciers yet again multiple times before it's all over just not anytime soon compared to the life span of a single human.

    Am I the only person who was taught in school that the earth has had multiple ice ages and that regardless iced capped poles isn't the normal state of the planet. Stopping man made global warming isn't going to stop the earth from doing it's thing the only way we are going to stop climate change is by learning to completely control the climate.

    I have had that problem before... contacts that I only speak to over the phone with non-english names and I'm not sure if they are male or female. or worse yet they have a name that just sounds feminine and they sound feminine on the phone even though it's a dude.

    You can get them for some laptops too but you are more likely to find a laptop with an inti-glare screen just not off the shelf at best-buy or what ever big box store

    It would also be all calls received that could be traced to their destination. If those records exist for one person to see they exist for all people to see and to believe anything less is silly. Although I really don't care that I have a contract phone with all my phone records.

    Well when you are arrested and publicly investigated because your EX's new father in law had a friend in highschool that is a suspect and they can trace calls from him to the father in law to your EX to you, just know you should have learned from 1940's that when people get scared it gets out of hand fast.

  17. I have noticed that a lot of the less popular mid-1990 and 2000 TV shows with only 1 to 3 seasons have dropped off and been replaced with fewer more popular long running shows and netflix originals.

  18. I'm not a gamer and I don't do video editing, 3d modeling, or have a home recording studio connected to my pc so my needs aren't that intense. A decent PC for under $1,000 would probably be hefty enough to last me the better part of a decade unless it had a hardware failure. I had a super socket 7 with an AMD K6-2 and maxed out ram that made it more than a decade going from 95, 98, win2k, and finally xp before it started having hardware failures and my current pc I have been using since 2009 though I'm ready to upgrade it.

    If Gryphon-X is based on research they did after getting hacked on how to secure their systems and networks... isn't part of their mission to advance technology.

    Not that they should be overseeing a project to secure the US's networks but if research they did will help then sure.

    My son is a bit of an entrepreneur... he doesn't really do it for the money he just get's bored with games quickly but he buys games for dirt cheap at various stores that trade and have used games like game stop, cd trade post, thrift store, and pawnshops then sells them online for twice what he paid after he has cleaned and played them for a while. He has gotten lucky a couple times in a thrift store and found a semi-rare game for $5 and sold it for more than the original purchase price.

    Just so you know when you buy a game for 50% the original $40-$50 price on craig's list if that person is selling a lot of games he is probably picking them up at thirft stores and pawn shops for $5 - $10.

    That's not really true... if you are a sys admin you know full well that there are tedious repetitive things you do that you probably already have a script doing for you while you make coffee, baby sit the results, read /., and pretend that you are busy getting things done...

    You and I know there are already tech forensics companies out there that work with law enforcement and provide tools and that this is about making manufactures give access not about them actually being able to gain access, but that's not what the rest of the world sees or wants to see.
