    He's not going to protect us, he's going to protect himself, his company, his values.

    I find this funny, he will argue his point publicly and loudly because at the moment it protects his company image and is what the customers want. If he looses apparently the iPhone is so secure that not even the FBI can hack it without the help of the geniuses that made it, which still works out for the company image, just not as well as if he wins.

    It would however be funny if the all of the sudden they dropped the issue by saying "Never mind, it was easier to hack than we thought.".

    Reliability?

    When I was a dsl Admin {for a big bell that shall remain nameless} one of the biggest problems we had was reliability of running dsl through ancient pots lines and it all boiled down to who was paying how much to replace those old lines, some communities would get new lines others wouldn't.

  4. I would say the most annoying part about the Win 10 upgrade notifications is that I ran the compatibility test and failed but does that mean I stop getting the upgrade notifications and Win 10 ads... NO!

    Back in the 90s and even as recent as 2005 my brother and I had the the same hair style and the same style clothes and I would frequently have his friends or co-workers walk up and just start talking. I would and say something like you must know my brother and they would look at me funny and then notice the more subtle stuff like a wedding ring. That didn't actually convince one girl she thought he was a lying cheating bastard until I pointed out that I also have a tattoo and he doesn't.

    I go back and delete my method of payment from accounts like that since I don't order on line constantly, new egg maybe once a year, amazon maybe 3 or 4 times, walmart a couple times. Get into my the account for my gas, water, trash, power bill on the other hand....

    My own sister used to have trouble detecting difference between my brother and I and we are not twins. Not so much now that we have very different hair and facial hair styles but friends we haven't seen in a long time sometimes still mistake us for each other.

    Owning property is a big way to get ahead, for the past 10 years I've seen property values and rent almost double what they were previously in my neighborhood however a mortgage doesn't unless you are refinancing to make home improvements even then they don't always go up.

    I keep trying to convince my sons that now is the time for them to buy that first house it's only going to get more expensive and then jump when the hourly minimum wage and minimum wage for overtime exemptions finally go up.

    I would imagine there would eventually be a tipping point where the low and high paying wages would rush towards each other and balance at a more livable wage range given the cost of living in the area. If anyone who worked in the lowest paying jobs suddenly left for greener pastures and they were unable to fill those position because they refused to increase the wage the city would be in dire trouble instead those wages will eventually go up.

    I have always enjoyed the anti-smoking campaigns they are so funny. We all know that smoking and even electronic cigarettes are not good for you but then again we do all kinds of things that are not necessarily good for you.

    My favorite is cigarettes have methane which is also found poop cause you know it's not like we have it piped into our houses in large quantities to heat water, heat the house, and even cook food.

    The fact that it's bundled with a security update is underhanded but given that it does describe what is being installed and what it's doing it can't be a trojan, more like adware.

    Machines fail all the time and the more complex the more likely it will fail regardless of whether it is a better driver. My computer does math many times faster and more accurately than I do but not when the hard drive fails then it doesn't even boot and a self driving car will be the same.

    I don't think we will have a safe self driving car like we might imagine them, we would have to rethink much of what we have imagined and possibly redefine our concept of a car.

    I think that in order to make a safe self driving vehicle we will have to rethink how we imagine that vehicle operating.

    The problem is we already have people causing accidents because they are distracted by cell phones and what not, giving them a self driving car based on technology that isn't up to the task because it won't be at a price they can afford is just silly.

    Sorry, autonomous or self driving cars just piss me off, I already have people texting while driving hitting my parked cars on more than one occasion. The technology we have is not ready to take over driving for these people but I see more and more stories and talk about it.

    I'm afraid one day I'm going to have cars crashing through my living room and the not driver will still have not looked up from candy crush.

    This is one of those things that everyone thinks, but seems completely unreasonable

    Right it's entirely unreasonable to believe that unforeseen failures can occur those things never happen. It's been decades since the last time a car had a re-call because it caused a dangerous and possibly fatal failure. It's not like people, birds, and other wild life have ever ran out in front of cars without warning and I have never seen a new car broken down on the side of the road.

    Linux may have alternatives to just about everything MS but the problem is it's a lot of third parties and no one vendor to point your finger at and say we payed for it now fix it.

    A little more than that when you add up Windows, Office, Active Directory, Exchange, Sharepoint, Skype, and a boat load of other MS products it suddenly becomes one stop for support. Now you are no longer looking at business critical applications that interact with software from various vendors the buck stops at MS and they support it.

    Ten years ago the company I work for wouldn't even entertain the idea of supporting and using Apple products and though I see more and more of them every day it appears even less likely today that we would move away from Microsoft anytime soon.

    Knowing how to plug those number into a formula and understanding how it works is still required, granted someone else did all the research to find the average that is filled in for some of those variables that itself requires careful testing, data and math but does not invalidate the position of the EMT.
