The problem here is that there are some states that don't allow audio on security cameras in a business, a parking garage, your car, or your home security system.
I would say probably not unless he is self employed... most employees have no expectation of privacy in the work area whether it is a manager uncomfortably close looking over their shoulder or electronic surveillance in this case the work area would include the car, parking garage, etc... and exclude the restroom of course.
I he doesn't want to be recorded then he probably wouldn't have been hired since most parking garages have cameras.
I could see someone deliberately asking a question that he know the candidate not to know the answer to just for such a purpose
My sister is an engineer, she called me after an interview and told me the interviewer was kind of new and got nervous because the engineers had given him a question that no one should be able to answer with out looking it up and she answered it. I don't remember what the question was it was about 20 years ago but it was just by luck it was something that interested her and she had done a bunch of extra research into. That was her first job after college.

I disagree, basic math is used by most people when handling money {which everyone does in some form}. Not to mention labor jobs that we may consider low skill even the kid that got you fries with that needs to balance the cash register at the end of the day.
The officer that patrols the part of the city you work in may know when you go to and leave work just because he sees you on the side walk this is not an invasion of privacy and he could possibly recall if he saw you at the regular time on a given date but yes doing it electronically is very different. Generally this will be in public places so I'm not sure any existing laws really cover that.
I used to work for a major PC manufacture in the U.S. the people that repair those computers when you send them in for warranty work are mostly college students in about every field imaginable and they are given a 12 week boot camp training before they start and anywhere from 1-3 additional days a month the entire time they work there. {that's 3840 hours of class work + 8-32 hours a month for how ever long they do the job and they are not sales people all they do is repair computers sent in for warranty work so all those hours of training and classes are about the inner working of a pc nothing else} Many of them went on to work in tech field without a degree.
My degree is applied music and work in tech mostly because teacher's salaries suck. My success isn't from anything other than a willingness to learn {oh and common sense}.
Quickflix service and selection must really suck for someone to go through the hassle of getting a foreign bank account and vpn to get what is advertised as roughly the same service for about the same price. I have a netflix account their streaming selection isn't that great, I'd like to see more new movies, although I can't complain about the service it has never been down or slow when I wanted to use it.

I know every one says "just get a case" but why on earth should I pay for phone and then a case... why not buy a phone with a better screen to begin with. Iphone and Ipod are already notorious for screens that crack when you look at them wrong.
I'm frequently annoyed by how the quality of products keep going down while the prices go up and no one appears to realize it. I'm not just talking about apple pick almost any product and look at the difference in material used between now and 20 or 30 years ago. Things like handles on car doors made of plastic instead of die-cast aluminum.
I think the last time I saw linux in a local store was netbooks with ubuntu that were discounted to nearly cost. I imagine that the sales people were steering people away from them so they could up sell ms office and other windows based software.
I specifically try to stay away from the stores around 6PM on most days but especially Fridays because they are mad houses full of people and I despise waiting in line for 30+ minutes so I'm going to go with "Just about everyone"
Or you could buy an ubuntu laptop from dell but your not going to find it in best buy and they don't have a very good selection because most people don't want a linux os or no os laptop they just want it to work.... doesn't mean it's not possible.

I'm not surprised at all that a musician has better sound and language processing skills because that is part of the study of music, I took two years of sight singing and ear training in college and many of the techniques we studied I also learned in junior high and high school music courses.
There are other important factors to music being taught in schools aside from the dedication and perseverance required there is also instant gratification. Students study math all year, there are mid-term and final test but unlike music those don't end with our piers and their parents cheering. At no point did my mother ever overhear me finishing some math problems and tell me it was beautiful, amazing, or wonderful. This makes music is great subject to get a kid hooked on learning.
Science is a fairly good one too if the school actually allows the student to do experiments and not just read about them.
Well when I see things like this I can't help but think that they are missing a few obvious things.
Since 2008, over 90 percent of high school seniors who participated in Harmony Project's free music lessons went on to college, even though the high school dropout rates in the surrounding Los Angeles areas can reach up to 50 percent.
Harmony project is a voluntary extra curricular activity that looks good on a college application.
Playing an instrument takes a lot of time, study, and dedication those who are likely to drop out would probably not participate in the Harmony project.
Some of them may have also been out of state sales not sure how that would be handled, but going out of state to buy a car is not uncommon when looking for a specific model.
I have an older brother-in-law that was Army CoE and has years of experience as a civil engineer. I don't think he has a degree outside of military training, I'll have to ask him next time I see him.
My office mate's car broke down {we didn't know each other at the time or share an office other wise I would have just let him car pool} and he dusted off a bike he had bought to stay in shape and started riding it to work. He was miserable the first couple weeks, but a few months later when he was able to buy a new car he had dropped about 15-20lbs and was feeling fairly good so if it's nice out he still rides his bike now years later. {He says he didn't realize how the extra weight had made him feel until he lost it talking physically not self conscience or anything like that}
I know plenty of overweight/obese people with physical jobs that pretty much negate any need for additional exercise they just have a poor diet. They drink half a dozen big gulps a day and live on chicken nuggets and fast food.
I on the other hand work in an office and do very little physical activity in comparison and I am 5'11 180lbs. I eat until I'm not hungry but not until I'm miserable and I don't drink a bunch of soda or eat fast food.
{I know 180lbs is at the outer edge of the BMI scale but that scale is an estimate based on average body fat per weight it doesn't measure your actual body fat.}
It would reduce the overhead and risk for the ISPs to move into more rural areas if the municipality was footing the bill..... I'm surprised they are not trying to bid on the work of building the infrastructure, operation, and maintenance.
Many of the people I know who have taken salary positions {not CEO of VP type positions more like senior tech and middle management} get a lot of extra work offloaded onto them, they can't delegate it down to an hourly employee because of overtime, they are afraid to push back or just plain can't, and end up working 50-60 hours a week and making less than they would have as an hourly worker before that big promotion.

That's not really true, my studies were applied arts and the company I work for tracked me down.

There are a lot of support roles out there that are not salaried and the hours only matter so much as making sure business runs smooth.
