It's been proven for a long time that when groups attack people and our rights, the law must attack the group - not just members of the group. It's necessary.
Huh... Now I know I'm taking a nosedive into the usual anarchist slashdot crowd with this, but isn't that what corporations and our current governing system are doing?
Well at least the troll is semi-creative. I especially like the cowering in the shadow parts. If you're a troll, generally you don't come in the light much, and you don't HAVE a shadow for anyone to cower in. So.... What you request is impossible. Sorry.

The pseudonym is fatherless? Well, yes, in fact pseudonyms are spawned from the fertile imaginations of the users who cower behind them, and in fact have neither mothers or fathers.
Yes, yes, I know, cower in your shadow behind my pseudonym.
the US is ALREADY in a budget crisis... Even though I agree that compensation is a good idea (though $500k is a bit high don't you think?), neither the TSA nor the government in general has that kind of money.
Well that begs the question, if you're a US citizen, but living abroad, you don't really benefit from the army, social security, government maintained roads, parks, or other public services that taxes go to pay. So should you really have to pay taxes?
Unless your assets are in a US bank, then I can see paying tax on interest or investment income.
I don't have a problem with the US doing stuff to prevent piracy in the US. It annoys me when the US decides to lean on the rest of the world and make them do the same. I happen to be an American citizen myself, and I don't want to be seen by the rest of the world as a bully who makes everyone else follow what I do.
I'm not old enough to remember the court video taping cases, and I haven't read up on them, so I can't comment on that. But in the case of Napster, there was an actual law that was being broken. As the AC below has said, courts don't rule on moral issues. That's the job of Congress;)
This. I find it astounding how many people don't understand this. While I do believe that it's important that a person does get some form of entertainment, that is in no way limited to a video game.
Well you don't have to play ANY game.... Games are luxuries. We don't NEED to play them (though isn't WoW considered similar to a drug?). We WANT to play them.
Really? As I learned it, Free Market means that if you dislike the car company, you have the free will to go to another car company, not start your own. Though I could be wrong...
My GF did this... Started playing LoL and sunk $50 into buying Riot Points in her first week so she could get champions. I thought it was ridiculous, but I've been guilty of spending RP on new skins (which add nothing at ALL to the game, just look cool).
This attitude of "write once then forget once it works" is really bred in the university system. I had to go through a major change in how I wrote code once I entered the workforce. In the school system, you write a program for an assignment, turn it in, and never touch it again (except in the rare classes where you had multi-assignment programs). We never learned to code for re-usability or maintaining. I feel that this is one of the major failings in the CS degree. They teach you how to code, but not how to code well.
Our customer service is highly skilled, and they will first ask the customer to reboot the modem/router because 90% of the time that fixes the problem. So that's not just a tactic that the script-following customer services uses.
My teacher forced us to learn the correct use of malloc. We had an entire week's worth of classes on it (of course no one got it even THEN). But he's kindof a dinosaur-still uses DOS on his computer. Often I prefer C's malloc to the new keyword in C++. It gives me more control over what's happening.
When you get a cell phone, you're gonna be tracked. It could be iPhone, Android, W7, or even a "dumbphone". They will track you. We accept this when we get cell phones.
Hehe I like how that's your "favorite example"...

2) I trust my bank to only loan me a mortgage I can pay off. Whoops
Why on earth would you trust that?

I think you seem to be misunderstanding the point of the slashdot comments... Here opinions can be given without needing to be asked.
(Yes I realize I'm feeding the troll.... I'm bored)
The TSA will release their own version of don't ask don't tell...

Ahhhh... Nasty. Makes sense now.
Citation? I've not heard about this (though I don't really pay much attention to the news).

There's a difference?

Or they are all starving and dying from toothaches. I'll give it three or four years at most.
Why toothaches?
They do. But they do prosecute others who ignore the laws that Congress passes.

Zynga games do provide a very good way to ANNOY your friends.

Seriously? Considering how similar most of the high level languages are, it's very easy to be an expert in more than one. Are you even a programmer?
