I guess I'm the only person who thinks this looks really fucking stupid.

I guess if this ever became mainstream I could always shove hot pokers in my eyes.

Wait a second, what will this do for Pr0n?

Maybe if Windowmaker followed the work being done at www.freedesktop.org they would have their menus populate the applications just as KDE and Gnome do.

  5. Re:x10 + andromeda on Component MP3/OGG Players? · · Score: 1

Andromeda is good for streaming, but caries a huge overhead if you are just looking for a jukebox. There is no jukebox daemon that randomly selects songs from the archive, The code is closed source and the author refuses to let you hack it for personal use, if you go the VNC route you have to install X11.

Andromeda is a bad solution for a box of minimal power. I have a 133mhz machine with 32mb ram with no X11. I have been trying to work with the Otto2 project, but this seams to have died.

it is already included in Gentoo, it is just masked out by default. Take a look at the 3.0 version of Gentoo as it includes GCC 3.X that is needed to compile Gnome2. I also can't wait to see what emerge -p gnome will look like (eek).

spoken like I would have said so myself. In fact I thought I wrote that with someone elses name.

For real though, Black box is a great small and fast window manager. When I am in need for a small fast linux install running on old hardware I start with zipslack add Xfree and the Blackbox WM. BB is also a great WM for low res (640x480x256 colors) monitors, think VNC.

yeah no shit, and after shipping and handling you usually pay the same ammount for the cd anyway. I am reallly into underground music and Napster was a great way to spread around the Underground scene. Most of the bands we are exposing are not on any label at all, and prefer not to be.
