When will you Americans stand up to USPTO and the related legislation?
Not that the system is much better in EU or other places, but practice in this matter seems to have a tendency to spread from the US to EU and so forth.;-)
A standards based calendar server is really needed. Something that resembles MS Exchange or similar products. Bynari has something going, but the product is proprietary, built with OSS. It's a bit flaky, too.
This could be an inroad to the desktop market, having a collaboration solution, that is easier to setup and perhaps maintain than a MTA+LDAP+SQLdb+whatever it takes to create something like Exchange.

> Yeah i do. I agree that it's not too good with large docs, but it's still much better than any open source alternative i've seen/used.
I still tend to say that it depends on your criteria.
I use opensource software, Linux among others.
I urge people to respect the licenses that give us the freedom because... they give us the freedom.
Then it'd be double standards to tell MS users not to respect the EULA or whatever. That's why I respect the licenses and, thus, don't use MS style software.
If most software users respected the licenses, MS wouldn't be a problem for software as they are today and more users would be aware of what software freedom is all about.
More users would use open systems.
It's in the contract, a proper Information Officer knows it and with MS.... well, it's expected.
No big deal if their commercial software business based operation have done their job as they should.
And yes; I'm glad I use opensource software.
It voids most of these inconveniences seen with commercial software.
Commercial licenses only benefits the "Company".
That's the difference.
I think you're right here. It's the same thing with Linux vs. Windows; people tend to say Windows is easier to install. I tend to say it's because it's different and difference doesn't mean difficult.
Actually I'm a Linux freak, but an *BSD doesn't scare me. The BSD's are cousins to Linux, therefore they are family, thus, important.
Consider The Internet Tobacco Company, www.iSmoke.com.
"For smokers that don't have the balls to stand by their addiction."
How about www.ismoke.com/Marlboro or perhaps www.iSmoke.com/MyOwnBlend?
And how about patents?
"I found out that the transmission between my PC and my new USB Scenter wasn't encrypted, so I disassembled the stream and got hold of the Marlboro scent. Now they've sued me. I think all scents should be free!"

How many Israelies are not jewish?
How many jews in the american finance (i.e. all the banks) and business sector?
How long before someone will begin to pull the strings attached to the Israeli government?
How long will the "rebellion" be ignored?
This is neither anti nor pro-anything, including religions or countries... merely a question towards the obvious.
Why is porn evil?
War is OK, but porn is not?
. ;-)
Only wrong doing here is to let little Joe believe its common to have a dick like a redwood to have sex
An oak is sufficient
Skåne Sjælland Linux User Group in eastern Denmark already has a similar project.
Its called "Friheden til..." - "The Freedom to...".
Currently, it consists of 12 books on different topics. Thats 1541 pages all together.
Find it here.
The only drawback for the international audience is that it is written in danish.

All Americans are free!
Where do one buy these nifty things in Europe?
It seems its all US and Japan.
I'd go for Zope... has the better feelgood factor.
Exactly how long can it take before someone does a "error correcting" cd reader programme?

It doesn't seem to work on the Linux version of 5.1a.
It says:
"Action not supported.
The operation is not supported on this operating system."

If you need to create PDF's on-the-fly based on, say, database queries or the like, go grab Zope and the ZpdfDocument plugin.
/
Go to:
http://www.zope.org/
... and grab Zope:
http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.1.6/
... and the latest version of ZpdfDocument:
http://www.zope.org/Members/gaaros/ZpdfDocument
We use this where I work (IT dept.) in production.
Except from the fact that it only handles different kinds of text so far, it does run perfectly.
Just click the "report link" and there Acrobat opens. Neat.

... because good habits are essential to success in programming and success is important to maintain interest.
Python builds on good habits; controlling program flow through indents and so on.
Python is increasingly used in education due to it's design.
It's free and crossplatform.
Another alternative could be web programming of some sort.

Well, how about listing open mirrors under this post as we use to.
Please list open mirrors only.
It seems that most mainstream mirrors (Metalab, many Sunsites and so on) are not publicly accessible.

I tend to agree; I don't feel "comfortable" with SUN right now.
They've done a lot of "wrong" things recently.
