Actually, there has been violence in video games about as long as there has been video games. The first interactive video game was "Spacewar" in 1961.
In the mid 70s, I remember watching the older kids play a gunfighter game at a local pizza place.
The first 3D shoot'em'up was battlezone. I stuck many a quarter in that machine.
The 3D shoot'em'up that got the most quarters out of me was Star Wars. I got to blow up the death star and all the people on it! Pretty violent.
Meanwhile, on the PC I remember some text games that described some pretty graphic detail when you died or killed a monster.
Mortal Kombat got Joe Lieberman's attention, and next thing you know we have ratings on video games (not unlike Tipper Gore and her warning labels on music, another can of worms). Gore/Lieberman, the censorship ticket - and I thought dems were into free speech.
My point is that video games haven't gotten more violent, graphics quality has just improved. Blood splattered on "Gunfight" too, it was just with 8 bit graphics.
1. Cowpland has been charged. That does not mean he is guilty. Talking about booting him is a bit premature.
2. Corel has made a profit for the last two quarters under Cowpland's direction. Granted, they have posted losses in the past, but I don't like the idea of throwing out the CEO of a company that has shown such improvements.
Most of the symbols and little used letters are grouped on the top and bottom rows on the left hand, with the vowels in the middle. The right hand gets the most common consonants.
A mirror script DVORAK might be nice, but for now I'll stick with my Qwerty.
So is anyone else curious to see the GPL code that Corel has modified. I would like to see an FTP site with the GPL portions of the Corel Linux beta. Any beta testers listening?:)
About 15 years ago I remember hearing that about a chuch led campaign in Dumas, Texas to change the name of the High School Mascot. They are the Dumas Demons, and the Fundamentalists lost that battle.
I believe that redneck religious freaks are on decline in my home state of Texas, and that's a good thing.
It costs more than 33 cents in labor to collect, sort, and distribute a handwritten person to person first class letter. The postal service actually looses money on the kind of mail that Email is likely to replace.
The post office makes money on the following: Presorted First Class - (bank statements, bills, etc) Second Class - magazine subscriptions Bulk Rate - just as the name implies
None of these types of mail are going to go away any time soon. In fact, it seems that I receive more than I ever have before.
UPS and FedEx do a great job for large packages that require insurance. However, both companies are way overpriced for small, lightweight parcels. Priority Mail is the best option for packages up to 2 lbs. Parcel Post is usually the cheapest option for larger packages that don't require insurance.
I'm trying to remember the first time I heard the term "Open Code." Now someone has bought the URL, renamed open source and declared leadership.
I checked with InterNIC, and I can get
sourceopen.org sourceopen.com sourceopen.net
Bow down before me, I am the leader of the SourceOpen movement. SourceOpen is the future, but only under my wise leadership, otherwise it will splinter and fail.

PS - As far as the whole brand identity is concerned, Tux should feel slighted for being overlooked in this paper.
I think the "hacker" term started popping up as a "password guessing kid" at about the same time as the movie "WarGames" came out, '83. I think Matthew Broderick might have even had a backpack similar to those sold by Kipling!
Microsoft is just hedging their bets on Linux. Porting applications to Linux and releasing those same applications are two different things. I expect that Office won't be released for Linux until the Microsoft bean counters say that if would be in MS's best interest.

I bet the extra claws would come in handy in a cockfight! A four-assed chicken couldn't be too far BEHIND!
