I turn 55 next month and drink insanely strong coffee and have been doing so since I was 15. Just sayin'.

I have two Newton 2000s. One I still use from time to time, and I also love it. I have long wished that either a good linux port or scaled down OS X distro would become available for it - ell that and WiFi of some sort. Sadly, Steve Jobs said that he hated those little "tappy things", so I doubt they'll ever revive the product line.

I agree. I had a 84K user setup and it NEVER crashed or caused any problems. They have good spam filtering, LDAP, and fantastic hardware design. The next time I have to implement a large scale email system, I won't even hesitate and will go with them.

Though most ./ posters are young males, there are many of us middle aged types having a tough time finding work. Most of us are willing to work for less that before, but companies tend to ignore us in favor of younger workers. Many organizations rationalize the higher health care costs, etc., make it difficult to justify hiring us.

Hell, even my iBook has taken many a tumble and survived. One corner is chipped, and the LCD frame is slightly cracked in four places, but the structural integrity has not been compromised. It works as if it's never been dropped.

I've had to use Compaqs, and Toshibas at work, and none have been as well constructed.
