No DRM on iPod, as far as I can tell. This is actually a big selling point. Of course it's firmware "upgradable" but you don't have to upgrade if you don't want to.

I like it, mainly because it's small, has a nice UI, and auto-syncs with iTunes. I was thinking of buying the Archos jukebox (20GB) but might get iPod instead - though since it requires FireWire it costs me an extra $100 for a FireWire PC card. (Old powerbook)

Why? It's pretty and light, and it auto-syncs. Style and convenience matter!

Yes, sleep mode is one of the huge benefits of Mac to this day. My Win98 (okay, okay, not even updated Windows, much less Linux, shoot me) Toshiba crashes on sleep 75% of the time. When it doesn't crash it takes forever to wake up. Mac wakeups are nice and fast.

Mac reboots are still slow as molasses. As bad as or worse than win. Maybe OS X.1 fixes this?

Bad, bad, bad idea. Lots of people post stuf AC because they KNOW their identity won't be revealed - about their employers, or Scientology, or other such. Without AC this won't happen. I'll gladly take 100 goatsex posts for the few good posts that come from ACs.

And yes, I routinely post AC. It's because I don't want it on my users.pl page. More seriously, I would love to see arbitrary bonuses and filtering. Let me add or subtract points for any moderation choice; high mod totals; poster's karma; +1 bonus [used / not used]; on my Friends list; on my Ignore This Person list; and so on. Could be fun.

Yes, but don't forget that IPSec can be used with IPv4 which we all use now. IPSec is normally used for virtual private networks, but there's no particular reason you couldn't extend it to other services. It's not so useful for any-to-any communication (it assumes PKI availability) but perhaps this will change as users get more paranoid.
