    Copyright infringers can't absolve themselves of guilt or legal liability simply by including the original copyright statement or acknowledging the copyright owner

    My point was how blatant they were being .. not even trying to hide the infringement.

    It's the rolling bags of charts they have to carry with them whenever they fly. There are regulations that specify what charts they have to carry;

    I think the point the OP was trying to make could be summed up as:

    You can rip the charts in two and you can still use them,
    But if you break an iPad in two then it is unusable as a chart.

    I know that planes have glass cockpits nowadays, but they still also have basic analog backup instruments as well, so this change is effectively transferring the charts from one class of tool to another (analog to digital). But as IANACP I don't know how this change affects flight safety. Presumably the FAA does know the answer to this.

    Extradite - Hand over to the authorities of another country which which you have an extradition treaty.

    Maybe somewhat off topic but I saw a humorous story on CNN this morning. They did a piece on the strip clubs in Tampa getting ready for the Republican convention this coming week - including one club owner who said he spent $1.5 million on upgrades. Apparently strip clubs do well at these events, and CNN quoted some informal poll that suggested Republicans spent 3 times as much on "Adult" entertainment than Democrats at the last two national conventions of each party.
     
    Other fun facts include a club bringing in a Sarah Palin look-a-like stripper and comments from another stripper who hoped to be making $1000/hr.

    David Brin's "Existence". I'm not providing a link to it because while the first 2/3rds was OK the last 1/3 was utter crap. It was like he ran out ideas and just cut and pasted one of his previous short stories into this book solely for the sake of supporting another plot line. And when I mean cut and pasted I mean word for word except where he did a search and replace on *one* of the characters names.

    I have rellies from Oz who when they visit the US stock up on hand and construction tools. Last time they were here they loaded up a suitcase with (among other things) a nail gun and as many of the brads as they could carry. They were really helped out by the fact that their 5 year old son was entitled to the full luggage allowance when flying. You don't do things like that unless it is worth your while.

    So, industrial software companies are using retail/home user sounding names for their products?

    I've always thought of Tridium as a building automation system, not an industrial SCADA system. While I may be wrong in that I have never seen it considered for any large scale industrial plant.

    T-Mobile also has pre-paid only plans. No contract, and you only pay when you run out of minutes. Using this my cell bill averages around $200 a year for voice only. But YMMV for your usage and requirements.

    Why does it scare you if you are already blind?

    The image in my mind that in order to perform the surgery they have to pull my eyeball out of my head.
     
      Plus I am not 100% blind in that eye .. just the critical central vision. So if things go wrong I could lose the rest of my vision in that eye. Its thoughts like this that dissuade me from using contact lenses as there is a small chance that you can get an infection in your eye from them that could cause more vision loss (yes I know its small but it it still exists).

    I would like mine with a HUD, infrared/night vision, and 50x zoom.

    On the other hand .. I am blind in one eye due to a retinal problem. I'd be happy just to have normal vision again in that eye. And I bet so would every other person who has some sort of blindness. So I was excited to see this.
     
    On the other hand the very idea of retinal surgery always scares the hell out of me.

    I wanted to build a better shake detection routine for an iOS app and dug into my background of digital filter theory in order to craft (and then implement) some specific band pass and high pass filters based on a set of defined frequency characteristics, as well as understanding the RMS (not that RMS) calculation of a continuous waveform in order to trigger set events. All so that when the user shakes my app pretty things will happen.

    "Programmes" is proper British English.

    I dunno .. its a step up from when I have submitted articles and have had the proper English spelling of words (that were quoted directly from the article) changed to their US spellings.

    Hybrid drives or mixed mode setups kinda suck ass now that actual ss drives are getting to a reasonable price/size.

    SSD for os/programs.

    Giant TB+ drive for storage and media files.
