Quite right. And by way of actual observation on Cisco TAC engagement with a top tier Service Provider... both bad memory and cosmic radiation have surfaced in the debug and diagnostic phase of the trouble ticket. It is not easy to then get the customer to ignore mention of 'cosmic radiation' and make progress on the real issue (timeline, early 2000's). And guess what surfaces in the next service contract negotiation.
Would expect my circa 2017 laptop purchase to have 1 TB of XPoint memory, dynamically used as RAM and 'SSD' (32G and 'nearly' 1TB), deliver a 5 to 10x increase in general performance, and cost relatively the same... Reasonably stupid idea?
May I echo the value of this. Smell dominates memory, and this will be likely be amplified in your children if your wife and yourself are also sensitive to smell. Make the clothing a special pick between Mom and each of the girls. Have Mom wear and perfume the clothing multiple times. Include top-grade air tight storage for each of these gifts.
One weekend with a Windows Mobile device was more than enough, to again affirm, how poorly a UI can be done. The $30 restocking fee still ranks amongst the best expenses I have incurred...
My kid attends a well thought out and well executed e-school http://www.appleby.on.ca/ (everyone has a laptop). The sophistication of their 'connective-ness' rivals the best of the corporate world. These kids have attained full 'cultural adoption' of the technology, this is sure to be of benefit long-term. As a counterpoint, there does tend to be many techno diversions, parents must watch closely. And for a 12 year old, a simple paper day timer and a pencil is a better tool for tracking test and assignment due dates. -Dave.

Hard to believe this is possible, given the general rate at which the upper class 'screws' the lower class (reference the last few millenia)...
