Last I checked, old people do not need any help growing more hair in their ears... seriously though, I would guess that this kind of damage is one of the leading causes of age-related hearing loss so yes it would probably help in at least some cases.
I agree, if the kid ends up with a record from this, finding a job might be difficult. He may feel that society has turned on him and there is no where to go and decide the acquire a weapon and take it out on everyone.
This is right on point. Who cares as long as management is happy? One of the biggest mistakes developers can make is being too idealistic about a project. It's easy to get caught up in something you're developing but unless it's your company or you own the project, sometimes it's best just to do what is asked. If you know it will fail, just make sure you have a solution readily available when it does.
Then what? If they haven't committed a crime, what are you going to do? Just watch them? If I was a NYC resident I would be pissed that resources that could be used to prevent crime occurring IN NYC were being diverted to look for future criminals on the Internet. Is Bloomberg's term up yet? Will that kind of political statement get me placed on a watch list? Considering one of the last psychos that was planning to kill people in NYC was an NYC cop, this doesn't make me feel safe.
I think anyone would give up the right to own guns if they knew for a fact that it would stop innocent people from getting killed, but that isn't the case. The first 2 school attacks in the United States both more than a century ago used dynamite, not guns. Guns will soon be printable. 20 children were just stabbed in a Chinese school it a knife. Determined individuals will always find a way to cause harm. Willingness to give up a right in response to a tragedy sets a dangerous precedent.

Even if that number is accurate, you're still only talking a few hundred harddrives worth, hardly a staggering amount of data. This is not a question of CAN it be done but rather SHOULD it be done and I say absolutely not. There are laws in place for intercepting phone calls, all other digital communication should follow those same rules. A warrant required and must be recorded in real-time rather than pulled from a historical log.
I want the phone to clamp around my wrist like a bracelet but be able to straighten it out for some functions. This coupled with a good Bluetooth earpiece and Ill be happy.
I wrote a customer billing, administrative, ticketing and sales system for a small ISP (that ended up growing into a larger hosting company). The system integrated with the email server, RADIUS server, vendor ticketing systems a web portal for clients, had it's own inventory tracking system, IP allocation tool and managed the sales process from lead to quote to billable account. It is definitely doable to write your own but keep in mind that this does require some commitment of resources to not only write the software but maintain it in the future. If you want an integrated system, writing your own is the way to go and developing those systems while you are smaller is much easier. In general commercial ISP management systems are either too expensive, too rigid, or too fragmented.
Then you couldn't modify someone's diagram and send it back to them, you'd have to draw it from scratch on your own or try to edit the final image? That wouldn't work for me.
You're reading comprehension could use a little work. They are currently using OO and are willing to endure learning a new interface (MS Office) because of the short-comings of OO.
This sounds just like FIDO used for inter-BBS and early internet email. Nodes would queue messages until the next hop was available. Why isn't the plan to use pairs on intangled particles to instantly pass information without regard for the speed of light or distance between end-points?
You're simply further proving your ignorance. It is not some 1% of "special" software. The vast majority of EHR/EMR medical applications are Windows based at least on the front-end. I never said anything about not wanting Linux on my network, again it is about selecting the right tool for the job.
Just for your information, not all Windows Server installs have a GUI, it is optional. Windows is every bit as scriptable and managable via a command line as Linux if you know what you're doing. Maybe the fact that you are so put off by Windows is a really a reflection of your lack of knowledge regarding it. I stand by my original statement, you don't know what you're talking about.
Oh really? I ran multiple data centers and managed over 3,000 Windows Servers on 150 independent AD domains, Windows server is every bit as capable as Linux for almost all functions. In some, it excels at far beyond linux, such as managing enterprise networks via Active Directory. As with anything, it's about selecting the right tool for the job. Your statement "only case where I would consider using Windows Server in place of a Linux Server is if I could only hire grade 10 IT nerds who have no idea what there doing" simply goes to show that you are the grade 10 IT nerd who has no idea what he is doing.
Unless you plan on completely removing Windows from your environment, including client devices you are responsible for, Active Directory is clearly the right choice. Samba4 might off an alternative in the sense that it can serve the same function as many parts of AD, but it is not a realistic alternative when you consider the additonal administration if you are already running a Windows domain.
MS is far from irrelevent and dying... they still dominate the business world and Apple's own cloud utilizes Microsoft's Azure... Obviously you have no experience in corporate IT and are simply using consumer devices to from wihch to draw your incorrect conclusion.

But I bet it would make some great Apple pie....
Or "overclock" your oven and burn your house down....

This study obviously did not include most of the humans I encounter on a daily basis.

Round coins have certain advantages such as rolling that are utilized in some vending machines and coin counters.
Count me as someone waiting to buy 2 of Surface Pros. $899 for the base model seems like a bargain with the price of a crippled iToy

Google has enough of my information as it is, I have 0 interest in providing and even more complete picture for them to market to.
I completely disagree, just take a look at what the majority of 20k+ user enterprises run, hint, its not samba4

4k or 8k refers to the horizontal pixel count, approximately 4,000 or 8,000 respectively.
The only compromised and confusing thing is Tim Cook.
