One thing the increased number of prisoners has done for the Colonies is to place a large number of former prisoners in the population, and though it is still a far cry from an advantage in the free world, it doesn't have the stigma it would if American incarceration rates more closely mimicked Western Europe.
You are the sum of all the things you've ever been, but who you are now and who you have the potential to become is way way way more important to me than who you used to be. People change and grow, not even shouting distance from usually, but often enough to make it really rewarding.
There's a Red or two in every jail, prison, or restrictive society who can get things.
Prison guards are not so well compensated that they are above bribery, but here's the thing: Most incarcerated humans lack the financial resources of El Chapo.
Many are left with begging family for commissary money so they might supplement their prison cuisine with some Ramen soup or a Reeces, and many more than that have long since burned the familial bridge and have nothing.
Some people, regardless of resources and family support, are never ever going to stop using if left to their own volition.
No matter what you do.
Most, if not all, of these people are aware during a rare sober moment that they are choosing their drug of choice over virtually everything else.
And they still succumb to temptation.
Call it what you want: a lack of will, a chemical imbalance, a genetic predisposition...the result is the same. No amount of counseling or drug legalization is going to fix it.
I don't presume to know how close you've ever been to full-on drug addiction,
but in my own admittedly small sampling,
many an addict's confinement is the only time in their adult lives they're not using. A great friend passed last year at the ripe old age of 48, but his life was probably extended a decade by frequent periods of abstinence as a guest of the County and State.
Er yeah, well maybe. I used to do a fair bit of cruising. I admit the idea of an unmanned cargo ship barrelling down on my unsuspecting sailing boat is a bit scary.
In this future, Gilligan and Tom Hanks will never be rescued.
And I had to read a good ways down through TFA to get to the teaser, including the second paragraph, where a marine biologist is quoted as saying, "This is an awesome snapshot of deep time."
It was astonishing to Westerners, at least the ones I've interviewed, how many Jihadi soldiers were initially willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. You could stand outside Walmart all day long promising eternal happiness in exchange for the sacrifice of a single pinkie toe, and not fill a thimble with pinkie toes for all your trouble.
The attacks we labeled as suicide bombings were renamed martyrdom by the clerics for good reason: suicide is frowned upon (eTrade baby voice) in the Koran. But still, even a semi-medieval backwards-ass pool of Great Satan-haters has to run short of volunteers for termination glory at some point.
Killing on the fly away from the actual death has to be an easier sell.
There will be at a minimum a niche market for this build to your own specs customized phone/computer/music player/camera.
Nerds, criminals, and the ultra rich perhaps....but mainstream acceptance and profitability are question marks.
R & D costs on a mass market phone are relatively easy to recapture with millions of identical units sold, and as fascinating as these are, I suspect their dissimilarity will lead to higher consumer cost.
I don't pretend to understand the dynamic that makes a man attractive to another man, and I have no frame of reference regarding how a woman feels whatsoever, but being hateful towards folks for an innate adult sexual preference is like kicking puppies.
We're going to keep it anyway, but we'd prefer to have your permission.
I just hope this doesn't become the IT equivalent of defense contractor morphing into DOD consultant and then back again.
Where are you, harvesters of the low hanging fruit?
Many of the rest are drug offenders. In general, they're probably not in prison because they were trying to pay mom's rent.
Many, if not most, drug offenders would take Mom's rent money for one more fix.
Over half of US state prison inmates are incarcerated for having committed violent crimes.
You're correct, but most of the time, your standing in prison escalates the more freely you are willing to resort to violence.
I'm not certain this lifestyle is conducive to reform under the present system.
Many more are there on a temporary basis as a lesson to reform cognitive dissonance.
WTF do you do to someone who's already in prison with 20 years to do before parole is even remotely possible if they don't mind?
Take away their Birthday?

bitcoin is finished.
Muhuhahahahahaaa!
First solo flight is how they taught it in Vermont schools in the 80's.
The Brotherhood of Pirates' Worldwide doesn't officially have a problem with the idea.

well,
you nailed it.
Tell us what you really think.
You're welcome.

Hmmm... who else might be interested in a UAV for fun, sport, or clandestine bombing runs?

What are poor drivers, exactly?
Why, anyone who doesn't drive like you.
So My Little Pony was just a dream?
I will totally be using that one tomorrow.
We have Mike Tyson on /..

What I'm saying is there is a slew of non-tech money out there about to prop up the price.
Even gold is worthless in a famine, but if enough people covet something it will hold value.
