  1. Re:Pretty underwhelming on Comet Lulin Closest To Earth Tonight · · Score: 0

I found it last night around 10:10pm last night, near DC, with my 8x45s. Once I had its location, I broke out my 16x60s and was able to see it pretty clearly. I did not try to find it with my 20-60x77 spotting scope, because a friend said that the speed of the comet made it hard to track with his telescpope.

  3. Re:Should have targeted servers on Transmeta's Demise Predicted · · Score: 0

The Transmetta chip, by design, has to be soldered onto the sytem board of the computer. That is why you cannot buy a Transmeta chip them like you can an Intel or AMD chip.

Also when person builds a server, the sys admin want it to be fast, and therefore they use Intel or AMD chips not the slow-as-molasses Crusoe.

  6. Re:Why on Linuxcare/Turbolinux Merger Called Off · · Score: 1

The company that I work for use to hire consultants to support our enterprise, but then the company relized they could save about $30k per year, per person, if they hired people to run the enterprise instead of using consultants. I have heard the the same thing is going on in other companies around were I live. This could be one reason why it seems like many support/cunsultant companies are going away.

There is no tax on catalog orders (unless they reside in your state). The Internet is about the same as a giant catalog, so why should it be taxed and not catalog orders. I am GOB

  9. Justice Department on US Supreme Court Rejects Fast Track MS Case · · Score: 1

The reason the Justice Department and Judge Thomas Jackson wanted the case to go directly to the Supreme court, is because they realized that Judge Jackson screwed up by being to "hard" on Microsoft. Judges are not suppose to care who wins. But Judge Jackson, by not allowing Microsoft enough time (Microsoft asked for 6 months, Judge Jackson gave them 2 days) to prepare there case, opened a narrow gate, in which the Federal Appeals Court might overturn the decision.

  10. Re:Mozilla on Mozilla M16 Released · · Score: 1

I understand that this is just a beta program. However it crashes all the time. I have found that really does not like pages where one drop down box will change another on the same page. Mozillla M16 will not even load these page. I use IE 5.01 and it has no problem with these Javascript drop down boxes.
