Over-the-air is the way to go (it's free). But some people live in poor areas and have to use satellite. Can the MythTV replace Dish's $7/month DVR (what an insane price; the whole thing only costs $150 if purchased outright).
I enjoy writing documentation..... but only if I'm getting paid. I listen to audiobooks or talkradio while I'm writing. But since documenting OSS doesn't pay, I'm not doing it. (shrug)
I quit Kubuntu when it started becoming as big a memory user as Ubuntu. I switched to Lubuntu which uses about 1/3rd as much RAM (and less hard drive thrashing).
"It's your fault scumbag. Keep quiet!" - Apple. Other companies have tried the same tactic, trying to silence/punish security people from publishing known holes. Like Microsoft. Sony. Nintendo. The Bluray Cartel.
MOS became Commodore Semiconductor in 1976. When Atari, Apple, et cetera were buying 6502s, they were buying direct from Commodore and making Jack Tramiel rich. (Also I suspect he was giving the 6502s internally free-of-charge, to enable C64s be sold at half the price of Ataris and Apples.)
Hmmm... wasn't free for me back in 2009 (when I had only unemployment income). The U.S. return was free but not state and local.
Oh and I choose open source because it's cheap and easy to get (versus MS Office or Photoshop). But so too is TurboTax, so no reason to try an alternative.
The highway's 8 lanes wide. I'm not slowing traffic by going 50-55 mph. Besides it's fun..... like a videogame (how high a MPG score can I get today?).
Start calling their representatives in the democratic Parliament? Probably not. Liberty dies when people just don't care (ref: EU states Greece, Italy and the U.S.).
>>>Well, Commodores and Ataris were good hardware with incredibly weak, stupid and crappy 'OSes' and application software.
First we're talking 1979 to 89 here -- primitive times. The DOS and Windows 2/3 on the IBM PCs were also crap. The Macs had good OSes, but cost a small fortune and no color.
As for professional software, both the Atari ST and Commodore Amiga had PhotoShop, DeluxePaint, Genlock, and other features that were used on TV shows like Babylon 5, seaQuest, and Voyager (first year). PCs/Macs couldn't even touch them.
>>>someone said they couldn't turn on/off as frequently
The Lupo 3L is a diesel and turns-off every time you stop. As long as the engine is warm, it's not an issue to start/stop whether it's gasoline or diesel.
>>>In civilized countries, the medical care is free.
No it isn't. Doctors and nurses don't get paid $0.00/hour which means they are charging the government, and the government is charging you (direct taxation of your income).
>>>You just don't like a brother in the white house.
Fail.
I would like a black man in office if his name was Walter E. Williams or Colin Powell or similar constitutionalist/pro-bill of rights. But our current president is none of those, and even if he was a white guy (like Clinton or Gore), I'd still dislike him because of his policies, not his color.
Pro-war, pro-deficit-spending, pro-corporate welfare, anti-bill of rights (TSA, NDAA, VIPR, SOPA, ACTA, etc). Bad, bad, bad.
What you use when the DSL or Cable goes down. Or when stuck in a hotel without internet (except a phone). I've downloaded a lot of torrents over 50k these last several years, and no bandwidth caps.:-)
How about seaMonkey? It has the same look-and-feel-and-functionality as the old Netscape Communicator. Probably has the many of the same patents. Though I doubt MS would go after such a small competitor. ( 1%)
I was just about to post this. Of course knowing how Microsoft operates, they'll try to sue Mozilla anyway as part of their Embrace, Extend, and then Extinguish philosophy. (On the other hand, they didn't try to use their NCSA Mosaic patents to kill-off Netscape Navigator, so maybe they'll behave.)
(ponder). My dialup service is Netscape. I wonder if that means it will now become part of Microsoft, or will it remain part of AOL. (reads article). Never mind. AOL is keeping the ISP http://www.getnetscape.com/
Maybe if Ebay, amazon, and other sellers stopped trying to rip me off with supposedly "new" items that are actually damaged items. Or employers not paying me for hours worked ("We don't have to pay you 1.5 time, even though the law says nobody is exempt except executives.") It's led me to believe nobody can be trusted.
>>>Yet, you seem to hold Obama responsible for all of it, and only bash Obama.
Strawman argument. I did not blame Obama for "all of it". If you look at my original post I blamed Obama for al-Queda's takeover of Libya. The end. I did not blame him for everything.
Yes of course it is. So why would you put a Lithium-Ion battery next to it, when you know said battery is prone to sudden discharges & throwing off sparks? (which would ignite the tank). Better to use a safe battery like NiMH.
Not the only one. 1 hour commutes are pretty common in the DC-Baltimore area. Some "only" drive 100 or 120 miles per day, but that's still more than an EV can handle.
Where I come from $700 is a lot of money. It must be nice to be so rich that you can just toss-aside $700 without blinking an eye. (Of course that's also why I don't have Cable TV or an unlimited cellphone plan..... the yearly cost is too much.)
And how much does the bike cost you if you get hit by a car? (As happened with my dad, my uncle, my coworker, and one of my dad's friends.) Then you're spending close to $100,000 on broken bone repair, rehabilitation, and will likely walk with a limp the rest of your life. I'd rather have my body surrounded by the $20K of solid metal.

That's called a serial hybrid (energy flows from engine to battery to wheels). It is not "different" or new, but was invented nearly 100 years ago.

You couldn't be more wrong. Look-up Volkswagen TDI. Last time I checked they were available in Beetle, Golf, Jetta, and Passat models.
