Tesla is the only manufacturer that is 100% electric. Along with Nissan they pretty much created the EV market by proving that such cars were both practical and by debunking all the FUD about batteries needing replacing after 3 years etc.
People who own them seem to either really love of hate the cars. The deciding factor seems to mostly be how many problems the car experiences. Tesla seems to still have some really severe quality control issues in the US. The problems seem less common in Europe, which is thought to be because they assemble and re-check the cars in the Netherlands.
That's true. BYD are shifting a lot of EVs, and the infrastructure in China is quite impressive. They actually sell some BYD cards in Europe, particularly as taxis and other commercial vehicles.
Decades ago Google stated that the end goal was something like the computer on Star Trek, where you could ask it a natural language question and get a sensible argument.
To some extent it works. But sometimes it fails, e.g. if you ask about vaccines and autism. So Google has an unavoidable choice: rely on easily gamed search results and the collective stupidity of the worst parts of the internet, or intervene.
Funny thing is that the mainstream media did report Clinton's email server on great detail and at length for years. Literally years. Endlessly during the election. The same media that was supposed to be in her pocket.
Yet somehow it's always the example used to demonstrate censorship and fake news.
The certs that Let's Encrypt issues don't certify identity. If you are assuming that they verify the identity of the site owner you made a mistake.
Let's Encrypt check that the key belongs to a person with the ability to edit the site. That's it. You can be reasonably sure your communications with that she can only be read by people who can edit the site, that's it.
The problem with this idea is that the fake news sites will never join the programme. They will just argue that it's run by the biased mainstream media alt-leftists or whatever and turn not being part of it into a badge of honour.
We already have a pretty good fact checking system for reputable news outlets. They check each other, they check themselves and they publish corrections. The problem is the disreputable ones who ignore all that stuff and don't care.
The suggestion is for a notification, not removal.
Facebook did actually try this, adding something like "this article is disputed by such-and-such" with a link. Unfortunately this tended to have the opposite effect to the one desired. People assumed that the "mainstream media" disagreeing was just more proof of the conspiracy to hide the truth. In other words it made them even more gullible.
This truth-proofing has been one of the most powerful techniques used by the fake-news brigade. They don't just lie, they convince people that everything which exposes the lie is itself fake news and a giant conspiracy. Their victims feel good about being "red pilled" and aware of the deep state illuminati MSM feeding them soy and untruths.
Ultimately, you have to trust someone. You can't go to all these events, you aren't allowed in to White House Press Briefings, and important people don't want to talk to you or answer your questions. So the only way to find out what is happening and what important people think is to trust some journalist to report it to you truthfully.
Of course there are degrees of trust, but as we enter an age where anyone can download an app for face substitution or faking speech the need for trustworthy journalism is only going to become more urgent.
Like it or not, that blog that is saying stuff you like or that Brietbart article that made you rage is not the same as an established, proven reliable institution. No-one is perfect, but that doesn't meant that there isn't a scale, or that some people are not deliberately trying to mislead you.
Thanks for sharing your experience. It's not uncommon I think. Often depression comes with a feeling of frustration and helplessness. Self harm is a powerful way to take some control of your life, doing something that is permanent and irreversible and meaningful, even if the meaning is... Negative isn't the right word.
I'm surprised no-one has done a Kickstarter for a firewall appliance dedicated to TVs and other IoT devices. It would block all incoming connections and only allow outgoing ones to a whitelist of approved domains. You could have an app that lets you enable specific services like YouTube and Netflix, but nothing else.
As an added bonus it could block ads on services like YouTube.
It turns out all TVs have are vulnerable to infrared hacking! If your window is open, hackers can control your TV! This just moves the security from the TV to the blinds.
Kids do this occasionally around here. Take their Sky satellite TV remote and wonder around changing people's TVs to the porn channels and cranking the volume up.
As someone who has trouble remembering names I'd also like something like this.
The Chinese state is much more open about watching people, and markets it as being for their benefit and protection. For example, as you drive through junctions in China you often see a flash of light, which is the LED flash bulb illuminating your face so that the camera can photograph it. In the UK we have the same system but they use ambient lighting and paint the cameras grey so you don't notice them, and certainly don't advertise the fact that they are doing it.
Sometimes there are good reasons to stop people updating code. Cellular modems is a good example - the cell network is shared and only functions because all devices connected to it behave. If people could mod their phone's to hog bandwidth at the expense of other users, it wouldn't be a good thing.
On the other hand there is no reason for the main OS to be open.
I remember AMD graphics cards always had a note at the top of the EULA stating that if you didn't agree to it you should return the card to the retailer for a full refund.
That text was in a little text file you could edit. You could make the EULA say anything you wanted, then click "I agree". Be interesting to know what the legal status of editing the EULA in that manner would be, and if the software accepting you "I agree" click counted as AMD accepting your terms.
I suppose the other aspect is that you get tired of feeling that way. It's the same with physical pain and illness... Yeah, in theory there might be some breakthrough, you might find a doctor who can help you or make a miracle recovery... But living with it day in, day out for a long time grinds you down.
Best thing to do is return the product. Manufacturers keep data on returns, and if they see a significant number coming back because "user rejected EULA" they will do something about it.
Check your local laws too. In the UK you don't have to return the original packaging at all, or you can just wrap it in parcel tape for transport so that it can't be re-used. Make sure that the return costs them as much as possible and they can't just throw it back on the shelf.
It is hard to imagine how people get to the state of overriding their self-preservation instincts.
One of the effects of depression is that you start to think negatively about everything, and react negatively to everything. Even when good things happen, your brain automatically sees them in a negative light.
For example, if someone is kind to you, shows some concern, normally you might be happy about that. But when you have depression your mind looks for ways to feel bad about it... Maybe they don't really care, or maybe you feel frustration that you can't tell them how you really feel because it might upset them, or maybe you feel lonely because if they are happy and kind they must not understand you. Your whole world is seen through this lens.
After some time it starts to seem like there is no way back, no way to end the suffering other than death. It starts to look attractive even, a way out and a way to end the pain. After all, animals with serious illnesses or injuries are usually put down so that they don't suffer, and in some countries humans have that right too.
To anyone feeling that way, please know that there is a way back. You can recover and feel okay again. You just need to seek help, and know that there are people out there who understand and genuinely care.

The problem with the "male abortion" is that it give the man a very easy way out of their responsibilities. It's generally recognized that for most woman an abortion is no small matter or easy decision, but it's considerably easier for the man to just sign the paper and leave the mother to figure out what she is going to do.

The Nissan Leaf is the best selling EV by a fair margin.

Google fired some asshat...
We have to start killing rich people...
Okay buddy.
Doesn't fix the performance issues though.
So they also try to sell you soy based brain pills, while telling you that soy makes your dick fall off?

Who said anything about recording and uploading? I just want local facial recognition of people in my personal, encrypted database.
You know, like how my brain has locally stored memories that allow me to recognize people, only with more reliable retrieval of the associated name.
