don't get a turtle those mother F's are dirty, stinky, and they are not friendly at all especially red -ear sliders. I heard some tortoises are fun but water turtles terraium needs to be cleaned every 2-3 days.
The only cool thing is they know when you are around and will stare at you staring at them. If you have a big place they are fun to watch run around, all clunky like. Turtles are alot faster than most people think.
They don't bite, but carry salmonella.
If you buy fish they hunt them down really cool, crickets too.

They are high maintenance but won't poop on your carpet like cats, dogs, and rabbits.

I don't agree. Obviously, you never got to get close with a chick that you had a huge crush on as a kid, because that is how you are awe-struck. Anakin clearly thinks about her alot like (almost scary ). Padme was the force or reason, but after all this happens ( war, anakin opening up to her, protecting her ). Then she was kind swept up in the moment.

Another point, both are teenagers that have to suppress their feelings ( sexually ). I bet this was the first time either was with the opposite sex since they were about 9 years old. They wanna get nasty with each other. I thought the part padme goes outside and tells anakin he was having a nightmare was very telling. They probably did "IT" that night. how else can they be all lovey dovey and stuff the next day. Plus I don't think you wear leather the night before unless you want some !

    Lots of flat panels.
Freakin light I don't like the stereo typical dark, noisy, dirty bar.
a good view with a patio.
Quiz sessions with fellow geeks to see who really knows pix firewalling, or linux proc file system would be really cool thing

  8. what you like to do? on Conferences For Unix Admins? · · Score: 3

I would say that there are tons of conferences out there but generally speaking the SAGE conference is where you can network with some really cool people (and its in New Orleans ).

If you are into security then there is a MIS training institute that gives pretty good classes.

If you want free gizmos and gadgets then LinuxWorldExpo is hard to beat.

I've been to the orielly conference this year and that was pretty decent especially if its not your money. ( I got the hook up for 3 free books !!!! )

I would suggest if you go to any conferences and get a workshop or session or what ever people call them make sure to get "hands-on" (or the equivalent) type of class because it sticks with you a whole lot better.

  9. ahh finally I have a good comment on What Are the Best New-To-UNIX Resources? · · Score: 1

I really don't think that books are to great for many new to unix types, because most are used to having information very easy to read and given to them. ( ala windows users that think unix is kw3l), but for the more serious users, I would teach them history and why unix is used in so many different kinds of operating environments. I would not get into explaining any gui based environment and would definetly explain the differences in the bsd and system v styles. but as far as linking goes I still find these pretty usefull:
unix rosetta stone ( more for admins)
    http://home.earthlink.net/~bhami/rosetta.html
    web based `man`
    http://linux.wiw.org/doc/man/

finally I would explain how to search for stuff, web, faq, readme's, how-to, rfcs. if you can follow this part then unix will be a breeze.

Also, about 20 years ago some guy named David Lee Roth wrote a whole song about "California Girls" which by the way helps if just for eye candy.

Also the environment has been reiterated about a million times, who the heck wants to wear suits and ties and kiss a bunch of @$$ to get ahead. I would rather come in some khackis a confortable pair of tennis and a sweater walk down the hall and start to work.
I have noticed that alot more people are starting to telecommute so Bandwidth (availability and price) obviously plays a roll it it.

I wish to raise some very important points that I have not read yet.

    1. How can a group of humans being the parents and/or some other selective body choose what is a retardation/disability vs. a benefit. Example. Eons ago homonids gave birth to a child with five fingers. These five fingers would have been viewed as a disability to many of the local homonids but in evolutionary process came to become an advantage to help the species survive. Do we know enough about every deformity that brings us to the conclusion that every disability/retardation/mutant is not benifitial?

    2. I agree to the posts that describe disabled people as a burden to their society, but many of the great thinkers and artisians were/are disabled. But by lacking in one area they excell in another. Just like you. Some are very social people but some are hermits. I am sure you have a talent just like they have a talent can we honestly say one talent is better than another. And furthermore who decides which is better a great theoritical physisist or the person who speaks for the physisist because he is mute?
