I guess learning about American History is important, but you also must learn more about current America itself. If you believe that what you see in Bangor, Maine is a complete representation of American culture, then I'm sorry but you don't have the whole picture.

I don't want to sound defesinve, but you should take ride down to NYC or maybe further south to where I live, Miami. You would see that America culture is more outward looking and global than you think.

  2. Here is the patent on NCR Claims Palm Infringes As "Personal Terminal" · · Score: 1

Listed on delphion here. It talks about a "Credit-Card sized" terminal. Well my visor is certainly bigger than a credit card. Also, I guess they are only enforcing it now because only recently pamltops have been able to connect to the internet because the patent also talks about that the terminal must be connected online.

  3. To Prevent Anxiety is just an Excuse on Iridium Saved By the US Dept of Defense · · Score: 1

The people in DoD have to somehow justify the $72 million dollar cost of keeping these birds in space. In this era of budget cuts and spending caps, the DoD doesn't have as much money for discretionary spending as it did during the Reagan years. So they come up with the idea that they are doing this to "prevent anxiety" and not because they really want access to a global satellite network. Now the can just put the $72 million under emergency spending and find a friendly congressman to put it in the armed forces budget.

  4. Re:You have to trust the government. on Will Britain Log All Communications For 7 Years? · · Score: 1

However, Britain has the strongest tradition of democracy and free speech in the world, and has indeed defined many aspects of these institutions. Free speech has been guarranteed under Law for some 785 years.

If Britain has such a great history of Freedom, then why did my ancestors have to sail across the atlantic 500 years ago looking for freedom?

Our mistrust of government is what keeps it on its toes. If you let government have absolute power over you, then you will not have the chance to contest it once you feel it has done you wrong.

Finally, past performance is not a gurantee of future results.
