  1. What about chip arch economics? on Will the Desktop PC Live Forever? · · Score: 1

Isn't there something of a negative feedback effect to look out for - as more of the R&D goes into mobile platforms, desktop CPUs could get squeezed on cost and lagging innovation. That would eventually price those of us who still want them out of the market for microcomputers, which would then join the minicomputer on the scrap heap of history. I like my server and hate touchscreen keyboards so hope I'm wrong.

  2. Waiting for FOSS on Former Nokia Exec: Windows Phone Strategy Doomed · · Score: 1

Well, I'm waiting for a Tizen phone, or equivalent, before I replace my N900. I could care less about iOS and Android. No interest in buying a trojan horse for my pocket.. Too bad it looks like I won't be able to get another Nokia.

I'm keeping my eye on the Tizen project, which is the Lnux Foundation's latest kick at the can after Elop killed Meego. https://www.tizen.org/ I won't be updating my beloved N900 until there's a new FOSS solution.

False. The current leader of the Ayn Rand Institute is Yaron Brook. *If only* the 1991 era Peikoff were still at the helm. ARI has been taken over by warmongers that appear to have made it their mission to twist Rand's philosophy to suit a destructive middle eastern foreign policy. I count myself a fan of Objectivism, and I want nothing to do with it. http://ariwatch.com/Introduction.htm
