I do agree with you on the public image out there of any country and how much of it is truth.
I think part of the gun nut thing comes from how most countries have prohibitions on guns, so if someone likes what you don't have, some people call them radicals or nuts. Its the way some view "legal" pot in the Netherlands. I've been there. People aren't running in the streets high or robbing people so they can get their next hit. They are in coffee shops enjoying themselves, having a relazing time. People against something (drugs) like to reinforce their view by spreading the bad side of something. You don't see images of boyscouts out shooting at a rifle range, learning gun safety. You see guys fortifying themselves in Waco with machine guns. You don't see guys out at the range, shooting guns safely, enjoying themselves and relaxing. You see gun fights with cops instead.
This is part of the problem. After posting, I realized you were in Europe, probably seing alot of the mis information out there from movies and from people like Michael Moore. Are guns relatively easy to obtain in the US from licensed dealers? If you have a clean record, and, in the states that require it, have a training certificate, yes. Can you walk into any store and buy one? No. You have to go to an FFL dealer.
As far as seing the US as having a gun fetish, that could be due to the lack of gun availability there. I know some people that have lots of guns, and some that have none, but the ones with guns tend to get the most press.:)
Where are you at where grocery stores hand out shotguns? All stores that sell arms have a Federal Firearms License (FFL) which requires a background check, notification of local authorities (which can get one denied for any reason), and a series of safety rules, such as storage of arms and ammo.
In most states, if you want to carry a gun, a background check and training is required. Most states also do run a check on any serious mental health issues, as well as the criminal background check.
The GPS on the aircraft has to be a bit more accurate than the one in your phone.. if the one in your phone is off afew hundred feet, it doesn't matter.. On a critical approach in bad weather, acouple dozen feet make a difference.
If the person actually worked for Diebold, I'd be more prone to say don't prosecute, but since he was working at a lawfirm, he broke attorney-client privilege, which is a very serious offense.
Plus, since he wasn't an employee, it seems like the theft charge would be easier to push for, since he took something from someone he wasn't actually an employee of.
Sometime in the future, Apple might change the terms, which would then apply to any future iTMS purchases.
Apple has changed the number of times you can burn your songs to CD, and it was retroactive. They lowered it down to 5, I believe, from 10. My brother in law ran into this when he was burning out some older itunes purchases.
It causes some damage and expense, yes, but its miniscule. Government resources should be spent on things other than something as small/miniscule as spam.
You don't have to be rich to have a child, but you need to accept the responsibility of being able to afford to raise a child, as well as rear the child properly.
If a family needs a second job, they should figure out why they need that second job.
Do they have 3 cars? Do they have a cabin or 2nd home? Do they really need that boat? Do they need that camper?
It amazes me how many families I know with both parents working have a nice cabin, or nice motorcycles, or a nice boat they have to pay for, plus pay for childcare, which usually takes a chunk out of one paycheck.
Its still a restriction. Everyone wants Microsoft to make their music restriction free, but people tolerate Apple's restrictions. Apple can impose new terms at any time and you have to comply. Maybe they'll move theirs to be more in line with Microsoft.
Everyone praises Itunes, but they have the same types of restrictions on music you buy there. This isn't just Microsoft going after you. Its any DRM music.
You can get earphones which block the background noise, but like, nobody does.
Maybe, like, you need to. I picked up some Sony ones for about $60. I fly alot, so I use them alot. I sometimes will hear others on the flights with earbuds. I can hear the music 2 or 3 rows away. i can imagine the damage that's doing to their ears less than an inch away from the earbud.
You can do this with GPS. They have something called RAIM calculation which calculates the quality of the GPS signal at your destination, as well as along the flight path.
There are also higher accuracy IFR landing procedures being put into place around the US using WAAS technology, which is available in some areas in the EU as well.
They do an insta check. They call in your name/address/DOB and the FBI runs a quick check to see if there are any felonies or any other disqualifying things on your record. If the FBI can't find any record, good or bad, you have to wait for a more thorough check. That takes 3-5 days.
So if you have a good record, you get the gun. Michael Moore, I'm assuming, has a clean record since he got the gun. If you have a bad record, or no record, at the very least, the purchase will be delayed until a more thorough check can be done.
The other thing to remember is he got a rifle, not a pistol. A huge difference in laws there as well.
If the other vehicle was close enough to yours, and you get stopped, how will you be able to prove it was the duplicate that ran the stop light, or was speeding, as opposed to your car? This is one of many problems with using license plates for ID.
I'm more than happy to ship internationally if they have a paypal confirmed address, or if they send me a verifiable money order (i.e. western union or another US issued one that has a verification phone number, which I always verify with their website before calling). If its a non-verifiable money order, I hold it for a week, then ship.
I've gotten burned on this. I've sent packages to people that paid with paypal but no confirmed address.. claim they never got.. paypal screws me. I have their signature from UPS in front of me. doesn't matter. no confirmed address, no help.
they already have this in place on MiniDisc Media and recorder. Every Disc has a "tax" on it to help recoup their loses, plus each recorder has a tax on it. It was part of the deal since they had digital inputs and could create perfect digital copies.
You've also never bought Video-grade DVDs. they have a tax on them that goes to the big media groups as well
I always wondered if I copied my mp3's onto MiniDiscs, would they be legal since the tax was already on the media?
I'm getting sick of the clearchannel owns them bullshit. Clearchannel owns acouple percent. They used to own more, but divested themselves acouple of years ago. They have no control. They own about 2% of the company.
Clearchannel hasn't owned a substantial amount of XM in ages. I'd venture to say years. They no longer have any control of XM (if I recall correctly, they own about 2%) and many mutual funds own more stock than they do.
They got rid of it after they went on the "high and mighty" moral road.
But why get new information when you can continue to whine about something on and on..
This, I think, is a bad example. In CA, the pot didn't leave CA, so it wasn't an interstate issue. I think the court overstepped in that decision.

Most email programs have a delete button...
Yes, it costs afew seconds to hit it, as well as process the mail, but that is one way to avoid a good bit of the spammage out there.

I like one of the systems..
" Public regulated Encrypted; Continuous availability even in time of crisis; Government agencies will be main users "
So they can shut down the public free systems.. or degrade them "in times of crisis" or they wouldn't put this in the system.
I wonder who will decide this?

I remember people saying the same thing about cable tv.. More choices, better product.
I've never noticed any artifacts. If there are any, it may be overridden with the variety over broadcast and the lack of commercials by my own mind.
Jez.. so if I forge a document and say its the same as the original, even without a copy of the original, you'll buy it as being 100% true?
They dropped the ball on their authentication of the documents. If something similar was forged about someone you liked, you'd be up in arms.
