Because a car like that would cost $60,000. Nobody is going to buy that.
And automatic transmissions are now generally the same or better than manuals for MPG. On some cars, getting the manual gives you worse MPG. And they are using electric power steering now; hardly weighs anything.
Europe uses gas with higher octane. I think. It's hard to get the conversion right. Cars that require higher than 87 (AKI) octane do not generally sell well in the US.
Current cars are designed for style, not laminar air flow: most cars on the road today have less air resistance if they are put in a wind tunnel backwards.
Got a cite for that wive's tale, gramps? You'd think at least one auto manufacturer would have grabbed that low-hanging fruit and started designing cars that were less air-resistant going forwards.
That is a specious argument. Just because they said he can leave does not mean that they might not want him back. Letting a suspect leave is not a get out of jail forever card for that suspect.
If she did not want to have sex, or wanted to stop having sex, she could have done so.
The presumption is that if she knew the condom was removed, she would have rescinded her consent and tried to stop having sex. Rape is not necessarily the violent street crime some people seem to want to limit it to, and consent is just like any other agreement: it is invalid if it was arrived at fraudulently.
Yeah, I mean if you witnessed something like that and there were people after you, wouldn't they just shoot you on the spot? "Oh no, a witness to my heinous crime! I think I'll conspicuously follow him around and menace him while he empties his bank account and gathers his guns, and then mysteriously stop following him while he secrets himself to an undisclosed location. I can't lose!"
All of this rests on a ridiculous premise: the bad guys have inexplicably let themselves be seen. None of us are Michael Westen and the bad guys don't act like they do on Burn Notice.
Agreed. The kind of people who spout bullshit like "passengers will know when to shut up and callers won't" are the kind of people who don't have enough self-control to just start ignoring extraneous noises when their attention is demanded by driving.
It seems like some kind of law of nature that people who disparage automatic transmissions are also the same kind of people who use words like "whilst" and "shall" unironically.
Thanks for the libertarian primmer. You have figured how to distill it down to almost its pure essence of ridiculousness. Watch out for the black helicopters and gray aliens!
That, and the USSR's penchant for invading, colonizing and virtually enslaving the various states they could get their hands on. The gulags and murders didn't hurt either. It wasn't ideology, it was pragmatism: if we didn't maintain a cold war, we would get a hot one soon enough.
No, it's worse than that. It's what happens when the third or fourth rank males no longer have the supervision/competition of the alpha males. See, the alpha males had to fight for and earn their status. They know, more or less, what the rules of the game are, and have honed their skills. The third tier dudes never really had to fight for their status, and are constantly oppressed by the alpha and beta males. Thus they never really had to learn how to behave. They always just scrambled for scraps. So when there is some kind of geek-fest their minds short circuit and they go into instinctive mating/showing off mode. Except they were never allowed to hone those skills, so they act it out in a childish, pre-teen kind of way. Think about it- geeks on holiday act JUST like 13 year olds.
It's just whiners who don't have the stones to stand up for themselves. No pay, no work. If that's not your personal policy, then no law is going to help you.
1. They get it because it's a premium they have found that they can charge for. What the market will bear and all of that free market stuff.
2. But also, because the price for smartphone data takes into consideration the normal usage patterns of the devices. Which in this case, it for them to almost never get near the limit of data. If most smartphones always used their limit of data, then the regular price for the smartphone would go up. Now, when you tether, you are almost by definition using the network more than you would with just a smartphone. It is two devices rather than one.
Look at it like this: you buy a cup of coffee at a place with free refills. You drink it down, and then refill it and give the cup to your friend. The manager gets upset with you. You say "it's free refills, what I do with my refill is my business!" And he says "yeah, but only for one person." The price of the cup of coffee assumes that the average person is going to drink 1.2 cups of coffee in a sitting. Same with the 2gb of data: it assumes that one device is going to use 1.2gb of data in a month. (Made up number.) If you connect two devices, that average is going to go up. They could charge everyone more to account for that excess usage, or they could charge a premium only to the people who use it. $20 is cheaper than paying for a separate connection for the tethered device.
Wait till you hit your late 30s. That stops working.

Silly us, deciding that a fluid ounce of water should weigh an ounce.

The standard is fuel efficiency, not energy efficiency, dingbat. Electrics and plug-in hybrids already meet this standard.

why is the risk higher in Sweden than in the U.K., where he has voluntarily remained for quite some time?
Simply because that makes the story work. Deus ex machina internet rules lawyering.

I envy that you have the resources such that driving is an option for you.

Try saying that in German.

Most of the world does not live in areas where cabs, walking or Metro is an option. FYI.
Morality has nothing to do with technical capability.
I guess human life has a different value if daddy was a rapist?
The US has reduced it's CO2 emmissions since 1993. What other countries have done that?

The planners can manipulate prices to effectively control the global market.
Not for very long.
