On Linux color calibration is off. I have not found documentation on how to fix this in XOrg. Real player is hte only one that displays videos that are not too dark or oversaturated if your on linux.
Real used to be teh AOL of the media player market. Real player 8 and 9 installed spyware and could mess up machine configurations. Recently they repented and supported Linux. On my gnu/Linux partition running ubuntu real is the only player with correct color calibration for my lcd laptop screen. Videos playing would be too dark or oversaturated on any other play but play fine under Windows. Real Player also is alot leaner then previous versions. I will keep the linux version on my machine for now and I hope this release is better than the really bad early versions.
Your right in that it lost alot of credibility and alot has to be re-earned.

I was going to say any search with monster.com or craigslist show java outnumbering even c++ by a large margin. Its where the market is heading. Personally I find it takes alot of code and overengineering for most work.

Now we have another extreme where the ad vendors can quote this lawsuit as proof that editors of all publications work for them and a lawsuit for a bad review is in order if you piss them off. Better just run PR press releases as real stories.

Make and gcc have both improved alot since 2003 when gentoo came out. Today alot of improvements are automatically included and linked during runtime where before you had to hand config files or use flags to have the compiler do it manually. Portage really is not needed anymore.
The FBSD 4.x series rocked and was my favorite before all the good people left the kernel team and the slower unstable scheduler and ports began to appear. I do agree with you for mission critical stuff Solaris remains similiar to past releases and is rock solid though ubuntu linux is fun on the desktop.
However my experience with gentoo was worse than your experience with rh. I remember just simply doing an emerge update would render myself unbootable, break things, and I would take whole weeks to make my system look right.

You can license it for a few hundred thousand and just hire some temp game programmers if you have a 5 million dollar budget but dont expect the game makers to develop anything but a license for you.

Basically his business model is to sue everyone and since they do not make anything you can not sue back. Kind of scary but good if it will make the industry think twice about protective patents. They have not gone after Linux yet because they have no money but guess who owns stock in the company and who has incredible influence as the CEO was a friend of both Balmer and Gates? You guessed it Microsoft.

Wows graphics subsystem is not tuned for opengl and is used for diagnostics only. At least thats true in Windows.
