    Lol

Reading these is like someone going on a rant about IBM. Strange today, as MS lost the monopoly they had.

The incentive is simple. Why do they still sell Office to Mac users? To make money. Visual Studio is another money maker. If they can't beat em on the mobile platforms at least join them and make money for app makers. VS code already runs on Linux natively and VS 2015 community edition even has full Android SDKs and emulators and java 7 jdk. No I am not making this up.

MS incentive also is the new CEO wants cloud and services and less concerned about platforms and tie in like Gates was. Azure has FreeBSD and Linux vm's ready to boot as they make money either way whether you use Windows or not.

Xamarin makes sense in that you are not tied to one platform. MS is turning into IBM after they lost they became more open. The UI and integration might not be as much but a Xamarin app for IOS will likely run on Windows Moible for easily with porting.

In essence the incentive for Sun with Java and why they didn't really capitalize on it. The idea is if they give java away these applets run on Solaris so what do you know?

I'm sorry, but Windows 8/10 is completely unusable because of its awful UI. No, MS Office is not better, again because it requires the use of a completely unusable UI to get to it, so it's not even an option. And finally, MS's spyware makes Windows 10 a complete non-option.

I have no problem adopting to change.

What is wrong with Windows 10? Windows 8 I can see. With a trackpad sh*t would fly as soon as you moved the cursor. With 8.1 I got a surface and it is a superb OS on a mobile device. On the desktop I got a start button replacement and it is light and works faster than 7.It is usable for me just fine and I use it for Hyper-V and could get used to the metro screen fine with the start button if I didn't have a start menu replacement.

With Office ... seriously I have not heard anyone ANYWHERE outside of slashdot whine about the ribbon in many many years. I actually hated the nested menu's inside Office 2003 and MS research is correct in that the ribbon enables more people using the products functions.

Try this out? Open any office program and type Alt? See the shortcuts being shown? As a result I can use Office without a mouse now if I am on a plane with these shortcuts oh and I can preview all the changes in Word now without going through the jumbled mess of Office 2003 or LibreOffice as a plus too. I prefer Office just for the ribbon. Yes the horrors of my post here on slashdot, but outside of this site I tend to think most people agree.

I understand many like Linux for it's uses but there is no need to get religious about it and find reasons. .... and to Windows 10.

Windows 10 was put on my surface without my permission at the Microsoft Store for a screen repair. Grrr. It is perfectly usable and what is so bad and unusable about the GUI in Windows 10? What the icons move makes it unusable?? Take them off then.

I certainly prefer Windows Mobile over Android as I use both. I can do in 1 gig snapdragon 400 with no lag what Android can do with a 810 with 3 gigs?? Seriously it took a Nexus 6p to catch up with my Mom's $60 Nokia 640.

Yes it is part of the southern US cultural to be in fear of science. Scientists are liberals after all which support civil rights and evolution and since it disagrees with some pastor then it must be from the heavons to oppose it etc.

You can bring evidence and even the top biblical scholar Bart Ehrman (go youtube him) talks about it took 15 years leaving fundalemtalism even after seeing the bible contradict itself over and over and over with 400,000 variations from copying mistakes and doctrine. Tell an evangelical the book of John was not written by John but close to the 2nd century and the books of Titus and Timothy were forgories not written by Paul and their brains melt :-)

You can't reason with these people. They have their own so called scientists who have proof carbon dating is a conspiracy. Mainly so there is not proof evolution can exist and also how the real biblical scholars are really wrong :-)
