If you want to do it yourself and you're desperate for OCR, you can easily do this in the commercial version of Adobe Acrobat (I've used it on 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, but I haven't tried 7.0). One of the "Paper Capture" options is to place the OCR'd text right behind the image.
In general, I scan at high resolution (600 dpi) black and white using an Epson Perfection 3170 scanner with ADF. I don't bother with the OCR. You can either scan straigth into Adobe Acrobat or into Adobe Photoshop if you need to touch up any of your images (coffee stains, anyone?). I find that I rarely go back to my old research notes, but if I need them, I can still print the relevant parts for working around the lab. I've been doing this for about 6 years (initially with a really bad scanner) and I've saved a lot of file cabinet space. I've also done this with all of my old photocopied journal articles.
According to the website , there are 9 episodes to be released on the dvd on june 3rd. The site lists "The Second Renaissance Part 1" as "First of four episodes completely free". It also lists "Program" as "Second of four episodes completely free". The other two episodes, "Detective Story" and "The Second Renaissance Part 2" are slated to come out in april and may, respectively.
From these descriptions, I take it that these are the real episodes, not just trailers. Also, unless there's been an early release of the third episode, this announcement is repeat of an announcement from 2 weeks ago.
The article suggests that Fort Hood was notified several weeks in advance of the public statment. They've probably got a lot of security issues to fix up, but realistically, how long are you obligated to wait for them to get their act together?

How about Galielo's Sunspots from 1612. Really, any 2D, time series data can be considered a "movie".

Of course, I could be missing something.
