Real hackers don't use drones - they use ultralights flying in over the Russian facilities to inject in intrusion software - oh, no... not an EMP! Ahhhhhhhh!!! The lasers! Ahhhggghggghh!!!!!!!
Actually "No Silver Bullet: Essence and Accidents in Software Engineering" was published as an article in Computer magazine in April 1987. That was (for the math challenged) only 15 years ago, rather than 25 years ago. I remember reading the article in its original form in college and I don't think that I'm THAT close to retirement yet...

Gee -- all we need now is a Sims sword-fighting routine and we have the Metaverse...
Actually, that's illegal. That was a trick that one of the big consulting companies used to do several years ago (I think it might have been AC, but I'm not sure). A former employee challenged this in court, and they lost. The conclusion is that you cannot be held liable for the cost of training that makes you more valuable to the company for which you are employed.
The best thing about BattleField Earth... It occupied John Travolta for a length of time in which he otherwise could have been making YET ANOTHER sequel to "Look Who's Talking". Now that would truly be to scary to contemplate.

Geez. Now you just have to con one guy into shelling out the $15 bux and then 5 minutes later it's on Kazaa...
