Great philosophy. He should just keep it all so that he can laugh and swim in his piles of money.

    What incredible hippie bullshit.

He made that money, that money was paid to him. It is his money. He can do whatever the hell he wants to with it. If you could make 50 Billion dollars would you pass up that opportunity?

Did you make this same eye-rolling assertion when Ted Turner took out full-page ads extolling the virutes of him dontating a billion dollars to the UN? Feel free to disagree with the man's company, but for the love of God at least give some credit when some good is done in the world.

If it wasn't for the big patent-wielding pharmaceutical companies charging whatever they like for life-saving drugs, then there wouldn't be any money to research the next life-saving druge.

If only it was as easy to steal chemical formulas as it is to steal software a lot more people would be dead due to bad drugs on the market.

  5. Another problem with direct Senate elections on Election Day Discussion · · Score: 1

The other part of this that is important but left out is that the point of the Senate was to represent the states rights at the federal level. You can easily point to the direct election of Senators as the beginning of the massive pork and out of control spending that we have today. A lot of these projects are better left to the rights of the individual states rather than the federal governemnt, but right now noone represents the states in Washington. Everyone who is there is only trying to get as much cash back to their constituents as they possibly can, rather than doing what's best for the country.

Wow, what a brilliant plan.. I think we should have passed a very strongly worded declaration saying that Sadam was bad, and had a full 6 months to clean up his act or we're obligated to pass another strongly worded resolution this time.

They did that crap for ten years and he laughed at them. When you're dealing with a bully they don't respect anything except power.

Now, put your rose colored glasses back on and sing your protest songs at your sit in... that'll change George Bush's attitude I'm sure.

Absolutely brilliant point. No one has ever gone against that tenant of major religions. If we'd all just live by the bible like they did during the crusades the world would be a better place.

Maybe we should all just sit around and think happy thoughts and send positive vibes to these evil men trying to do bad things. Then the world can all gather together and sing songs for the children.

  8. Re:Installation on Rise of the 'Consumer' Linux Distribution · · Score: 5, Insightful

    Installation?
    Dual Boot?
    Operating system?

If you're talking about actual end-users you're dealing with people who think that AOL *is* the internet. They aren't interested in dual booting, or installing the operating system. They're only interested in their computer coming on when they push the button and doing what they want it to do without them having to think about it. I know that at some time you've installed an application on Windows.. Double click, click next three times voila --- icon on desktop = installed program.

If they're serious about having a true user friendly Linux distro that's where they're going to have to be.
