    You can't deny that the engineering it takes to push a car to 270mph is impressive. The make up of the Tesla S is also impressive.

    It is not necessary to read about the same model S every day. How about take one of those days to post a story about the Hennessey?

    You are deranged. Do you think that the fact that he's black would stop anyone from impeaching him if he actually "stole" over $1 trillion from the American People.

    Perhaps there isn't as big a consensus that the money was stolen that is preventing an impeachment and not the color of his skin.

    How many of them actually take possession of bitcoins? And how many just have a bitcoin middleman that immediate converts it to dollars and gives them dollars?

    The take home was that all the packaged and repackaged financial derivatives were finally seen to be much higher risk than they thought and the house of cards came crashing down. The failing economy triggered it, but Lehman Brothers were so leveraged in all those debt obligations that the failing economy was magnified many times over on their balance sheet.

    Because a city is one of the few places that has anything interesting within walking or biking distance. I don't want to have to drive half an hour to get to the nearest restaurant, cinema, museum, or even the supermarket. There's more to cities than just partying, and I want to live in a place where I don't *have* to use my car if I want to do anything besides stay at home.

    There's more things to do than just go to places created by other humans. Some people enjoy living in and around nature. Some also enjoy going out in to nature and away from the cities.

    I live in a smaller city (~300k people). There's plenty of room for me to have a detached house and yard. I'm also 5 minutes from downtown. Seems a little more sustainable than mega cities with 10's of millions of people in them all commuting to and fro.

    Do you have any sources on horrible things done in the name of Buddhism? I'm not denying anything, but I'm not aware of anything either. Just looking to learn something.

    You got me looking into this. My commenting was definitely not breaking the line when hitting enter twice or more.

    This is determined by an account setting for posting. "Plain Old Text" will convert enter presses to line breaks, but if you have set "HTML Formatted" it will not. Of course now that I reread your comment you specifically mention "Plain Old Text".

    You are correct that black Americans do generally come from a disadvantaged position, but that is not a universal truth. When you have blanket policies that give preference to minorities, you are helping out all the minorities, even the ones from privileged backgrounds. You are also holding back all the people of the majority, even the ones that were born in the dirt and have been poor their entire lives. I'm not against policies to help the people that need help and level the playing field, but I'm not sure if the implementations that we've been using are the proper choice.

    Have you seen the quality of photographs most people take? Being a professional photographer is still a valuable skill.

    Having any exclusive pictures is not really a thing anymore (buggy whips as you say), as well as anything involving film, but taking a very good quality picture with a good camera is still a profession.

    Can you shorten more than one block in an address? For example, "fe80:0000:0000:0000:0025:0000:0000:0001". Would that become "fe80::0025::0001"? Wouldn't this be a problem then if you try to shorten "fe80:0000:0000:0025:0000:0000:0000:0001" and get the same result "fe80::0025::0001"?

    There's nothing here that says they didn't congratulate the winners. This is just the result of too much sports journalism. They try to find drama with everything. How many different angles can you take on the story that one person skated faster than another? That's not bringing in the viewers so it becomes some sort of suit disaster. The US skaters need to focus on their performance and use any losses as motivation to get better, not play a blame game and continue to blow the meet.

    It's far more complicated than just this. Even with these suits an athlete could win on one day, but lose the next. The number of variables involved are too numerous to just say this suit is worse.

    It really just sounds like a team that was way too overconfident, got caught half-assing it, and now is trying to deflect blame that they weren't as prepared as the other teams.

    The transgendered community has an extremely elevated suicide rate compared to the rest of society. If you really want people to keep dying because they're not able to handle living with the gender assigned to them at birth, keep spouting your nonsense.

    I have a legitimate questions about this. Does the suicide rate go down for transgender people that undergo surgery to align their mind and body? Basically, would having their physical gender match what they feel they are lower the suicide rate?

    I'm going to need more data to back up a 1% claim. Other posters have claimed stats that are more like 0.05% (1 in 5000). The possibility has also been raised that this group includes people with only marginally ambiguous genitals that wouldn't share that with everyone on Facebook.

    This is going no where. I understand the whole concept of the SI standard. The country I live in doesn't use it and will probably never use it in my lifetime. Standards are great, but so is a large amount of preexisting knowledge, data, and designs based on Imperial units.

    What happens if we find out we aren't alone in the universe and every other alien species uses the Universal Standard? Do we throw out all our SI knowledge because we are the minority?

    Municipal governments have been doing it for years, because they dont have stock dividends and millions of dollars CEO salaries, to pay.

    Point of note. Stock Dividends are in no way required to be paid. Cutting dividends would most likely result in a share price drop as jilted investors sell out, but there is no obligation to pay them or continue paying them.
